So I saw it last night and I thought it was really good but there are a few things that confuse me...
SPOILERS?!?!?!
So Katdness and Peeta are the first couple to ever win the games? It's always been one person correct? and after you win you are pretty much pampered for the rest of your life and never have to do it again correct?
So how is it that the male and female chosen from Group 1 are somehow brother and sister and have both won the games 4 times a piece? The district 1 people are known as the best and always have people that train their whole lives and usually volunteer correct? (I think I remember this from the 1st movie) So they should have the majority of the victors yet these two somehow got "randomly" chosen to go together? NOT LIKELY!?! Also don't say they volunteered b\c before all the victors were sent out they were the first group bitching about not volunteering to be there.
In the other groups you also had certain couples that matched each others strengths and they kind of inferred that these people all worked together to win (which isn't possible b\c Peeta and Kadness were the only couple to win together).
For example.. You have the group that has the two smart weird people.. and then the group that has the two people that like to sit and hide the whole show wearing camouflage?!
There is no way these two groups would randomly be picked to have the EXACT SAME SKILLS. Just doesn't seem likely.
Besides these questions I really enjoyed the movie. When it ended I was honestly shocked it had been almost 2 and a half hours b\c I was so into it.
Great movie!

I always thought the first book was great.
None of these books were great. Entertaining? Mildly. But, great? No.

From what I remember from the book each person chosen has only been in the Games once. Haven't seen the movie yet so I can't tell you if the movie changed anything.
For anyone that read the book and saw the movie
10 big differences between the movie and book

That would make sense but during the movie they say the people from group one have won the games like 4-5 times.. some ridiculous shite.

In the books, they explain to you that the people of certain districts are good at certain things because of their lifestyles in that district. For example, I think its district 4? But there is one district where there society revolves around fishing pretty much, like the people there grow up expecting to be fishermen because thats what life is like there. So thats why the people from that district use nets and tridents and stuff as their weapons. Hope I did a good job explaining it but thats why tributes from the same districts are going to have similar skill sets.

Yeah I can get the whole camoflauge one being there lifestyle in that district but the two geniuses doesn't really fit that mold. I couldn't see the lifestyle of a certain district to be just insanely smart ya know?
Who knows. I know I'm over thinking things and it doesn't affect how I look at the movie b\c it was still great but it just seemed kind of odd to say everything was so "random" and then have things match each other so perfectly

've read the book, predictable is something I can deal with.
I haven't. But want to read the third book now

I read the first one, thought it was great. Read the second one, thought it was even better. Began the third one, and it was putting me to sleep, so I never finished it. I am going to pick it back up before the last movie but man was it dull.

to me Catching Fire seems just like they remade the first one because Katniss has to go back to the Games

Just walked out, they never mentioned how many times each victor won. Just that district 1's were brother and sister. Just like in the book

It is a tech district so the people there work with creating/utilizing technology. It makes sense that the winners from that district would be highly intelligent.

The series could have and should have been split into two books. The author knew exactly what she was doing getting in on the trilogy action.
Saw it with the wife just now and like the books, the movie is just a segue to the 3rd. There was a lot that I had to explain to my wife (who didn't read the books) that the movie didn't explain well.
All in all it was a decent movie and I expect the 3rd to be the best film. It should be a good climax to the movie series.

We saw it tonight and enjoyed it. I think it was even better than the first one.

Didn't the rest of them only win once?
Just got out of the movie.
FANTASTIC.
Blew the first one away.
And I loved the first one. Enjoyed Catching Fire immensely!

What they mean is that district 1 has won the games 4-5 times not that the same people have won it that many times.

There won't be just a third movie. They are splitting Mockingjay into two movies.
Greedy fricks.
Greedy fricks.

I felt like Catching Fire kept up with the original.. the 3rd book not so much. That being said - I think the third book will actually be the better "film" because the content of the third book actually seems to present itself as a "made for film" script.
The content of the third book reeks of a mediocre writer trying to stretch one interesting idea into a trilogy.
