What a bonkers fricking movie. Not sure what the difference between the directors cut I just watched and the original movie but this was fricking intense. It’s like if Hellraiser and the thing had a baby. Nightmare fuel but surprisingly enduring

I love Clive Barker's style as a director and wish he did more movies but I didn't like this one.

Well, David cronenberg directed it believe.

It was a disaster in the final product, but the concept was awesome. It’s fairy tale horror. I hate that it didn’t work out.

I think it’s a stone-cold masterpiece.
Obliterates anything else Barker directed.
Midian realm is badass. As are the creatures. Genuinely terrifying. Also, the cronenberg serial killer side-narrative.

Director's cut helps a little with story. Rawhead Rex was a real disaster of a movie.

I’ve read the short story rawhead Rex and they could never make that into a movie that made sense. If I remember correctly, rawhead’s head was a penis. And there’s an overly descriptive scene where Rawhead pees on a priest.

Also, one of the great title shots: Solid black, but the words ‘Night breed’ a window affording a view of madness/revelry occurring in Midian.

Saw this a few years after it came out. It was good but dark. I like Clive’s books more. Hellbound heart was a very good read.
