I'd much rather deal with Zombies than the Singularity, especially when it decides to kill us all. Zombies are easy to outsmart, while The Singularity would be more intelligent than all of humanity combined.

Watson is going to kill all of us. It just shows that computers can process information faster than humans can. However, Watson's mistakes and his random arse daily double wagers were hysterical.

Humanity's only hope is for Watson to pull a Cliff Clavin tomorrow.

Watson won't do good, at least I don't think it will, when there are more tricky questions: eg
Before & After
Teen Star in a Tech movie and Comic strip with techy teens
Michael J Foxtrot

Ken was visibly pissed
Jeopardy has always been about who can buzz in the fastest. Ken even said so in interviews.

what you got against Ken?

which is why I thought Watson had an unfair advantage. I was hoping for a 3 way heavyweight battle but it wasn't b/c Watson owned the buzzer.

Yeah, I have a feeling they have left the ultra nuance for the final day.

But it seems like he's programmed for that.
So we'll see how he handles it.

So, basically we're looking at Cylons in a few years?

Watson ran train on Brad and Ken in Double Jeopardy, which are considered the more difficult questions. However, I agree that Watson's may have trouble some of the nuances of the English language and US cities.

Can we get this crap over with and get back to real Jeopardy please? These nerds are wasting everyone's time and money.

Annihilation of the human race in exchange for a good-looking piece of arse?
Sounds like a fair trade.

quote:I don't know how they have it set up for this particular "experiment" but in the standard Jeopardy game, the buzzers are locked out until Alex finishes reading the clue on the board. There are lights on the outside edge of the board (visible only inside the studio) that illuminate or go off - I forget which - when the lockout is over. Anyone who hits their buzzer before the lockout time is up, has an additional .25 secs added to their lockout.
which is why I thought Watson had an unfair advantage. I was hoping for a 3 way heavyweight battle but it wasn't b/c Watson owned the buzzer.
The thing is, I don't know how the limitation could be put on Watson since he can't hear Alex reading the clue.

I wonder what watson's average buzz in times are compared to the average human contestant's...

Was pretty damn close, but that's neither here nor there. I agreed with you that it was a good trade-off.

I still can't believe watson answered toronto as a US city

My buddy sent me a text saying that the show took over 4 hours to film because watson kept crashing. If so, that is BS. If ken and the other dude just fall asleep during the competition I doubt they stop. I just don't see that as being fair, im sorry if you want to compete, you need to work right.
