Joker 2 is looking more and more like it’s going to be a flop

All of the signs point to it being so. The festival screening reactions have been mixed to negative with many calling it a long courtroom drama. Lady Gaga adds absolutely nothing to the story. Many people are regarding it as inferior to the first one.
This film suffers from an identity problem in that it doesn’t know what kind of film it wants to be. It has too many tones that don’t mesh at all. What a huge let-down from Todd Phillips.
Did people honestly expect a fricking musical to be better than the first Joker? The first one worked so well because it didn’t try to be anything extra and served as a character study of Arthur Fleck

I liked the first Joker movie well enough (even if it was a complete ripoff of other movies). I like Joaquin Phoenix. I like Lady Gaga. It doesn't even really bother me that it's a musical.
Yet I have absolutely zero desire to see this one. Hard to even explain why really, I just don't.

My son went and saw it last night at an advance screening. He loved the first one and didn't like this one. Said the movie wasn't cohesive and couldn't make up its mind what it wanted to be.
He did say he enjoyed most of the musical numbers

You saw it?

I swear if a huge portion of the movie is just his imagination I'm going to throw a beer at the screen.

I just saw John Campeas quick reaction..."This movie freaking sucks"
It's getting shredded on Twitter. Making it a musical was a big gamble that likely won't pay off.

Hoo boy the leaks I've seen are terrible.

John campea said it's terrible which is pretty surprising because he typically doesn't crap on too many movies

The first one was really bad as far as it's connection to the Batman verse. There's no indication this guy will go on to become a criminal mastermind.

guess i'm out then. i like the first movie, but can't do a musical.

everything about it looks terrible

Hello thought likely taken directly from a youtuber. The festival reviews were mixed, just like with the first one. Most of the festival reactions praised Gaga, so it seems like either both or neither of those things should be taken into account. And those same reviews typically explain how the musical stuff is integrated, as in explaining that it's not a straight musical.
That said, the first movie was stupid, and this sequel looks stupid.

That's where I figured they were going to take this one. Show how that might be possible or that he might actually have a little smarts to him as opposed to just crazy, like the first one.
But being a musical kind of takes me out of it. I would have saw a sequel in theatres because I liked the first one so much, but I don't even have a desire to watch this at all much less see it in theatres. I would imagine I'm not alone in that.

I agree with this.

1. Ole boy hates fans of the first film and part of him doing this one was to "stick it" to them.
B. "15-song jukebox musical
Does the post-mortem exam have to be any more detailed than that?

Loved the first one, will not be seeing this.
If they can't me in the theater, this movie will mega flop.

As soon as it was announced as a musical I lost interest. I loved the first one and really wanted a sequel but making it a musical made me totally disinterested. Whoever approved that needs to be fired
