Kevin Can F**K Himself

I had never heard or seen anything about this show until a couple of weeks ago. I just finished it last night and thought it was pretty good.
It was definitely an interesting watch and a pretty refreshing twist on the sitcom world. Seemed a little drawn out but the back and forth between different lives held my attention.
I HATED Kevin though, so I sympathized with Allison
All I could keep thinking of was "I wonder if Debra lead an alternate life like this. She had plenty of reason to hate Ray"
Just curious of others thoughts

I almost quit watching because of him. Kevin AND this show can frick themselves
But like I said, it was just such an interesting twist I wanted to see where it went.
Glad I kept watching

We watched the first episode and it was just too damned depressing.

I enjoyed it. I like Alexis though.

You didn't even scrape the surface of depressing on this one

There's a weird trend going on in Hollywood where things are described as "dark/black comedy" and in reality, there's zero comedy involved at all. It's just trauma vomit coming from these broken, emotionally-crippled Millennials/Gen Z writers.

Did the show have a proper finale? I heard it was cancelled.

The finale I watched last night was about as good as I had hoped for the entire time I was watching.
Im not sure it could have wrapped up any better.

it’s a good show. I started but haven’t finished.
its such a cool concept and the way thy go from 2000s sitcom lighting and shots to the more realistic shows when Kevin leaves is really well done from a production standpoint

we did as well and i couldn't tell if i was dealing with a dishonest narrator. but the darkness of it was too much for me.

The concept was fantastic, but the execution was jarring. Maybe it was supposed to be.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. That was the main draw for me. It was such a stark contrast that I legit thought in the finale that it was a different character playing Kevin when it switched from the sitcom.
I googled it to make sure it was the same guy.

on definitely intentional
you’re supposed to be slammed with the reality whenever they kick back to “reality”

the concept and i loved Annie Murphy in Schitt’s Creek. I try and watch projects of actors I like.
Seeing interviews of her and the fact that she doesn’t sound anything like any of her characters really makes you appreciate her as an actress.

We watched it recently as well and loved it.
It does help knowing it was based on the Kevin James sitcom after “King of Queens” and firing the actress from that show. The sitcom part is straight from there. That fired actress even makes an appearance in the Series finale as fyi.

"Kevin Can Wait" was the show after "King of Queens". I didnt not know that though. The fired actress played Kevins new GF (Molly) in this one. Just found this little nugget about it...
quote:
Molly's actress, Erinn Hayes, previously played Donna, the wife of the title character played by Kevin James in Kevin Can Wait. Donna's unceremonious offscreen death between its first and second seasons and subsequent replacement by the character Vanessa (played by Leah Remini, James' costar on The King of Queens) served as the inspiration for Kevin Can frick Himself.
Well, that is an interesting little tidbit!!

I'd heard of this show but didn't give it any thought. As a general rule any shows that have cursing or asterisks in them are an automatic no to me becuase it's such low hanging fruit and trying way too hard to be edgy. But I digress...I quickly skimmed the thread and most people seemed to like it well enough so I watched episode 1 last night. Definitely interesting seeing the two different lenses of her life, I was caught pretty off guard the first time it swithced. I've intentionally not read anything about the show so I can not be spoiled but I'll keep watching and see how it goes.
And yeah, as others have said...man Kevin is the worst. Like I know these are fictional characters being portrayed by professional actors but still I can't help but feel awful for allison
