My expectations were not high. I thought it was fine. I didn’t care for how they adapted some of the movie, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. It was definitely not one of my favorite Disney live action adaptations.

As far as a movie to be watched at home it was just ok. Nothing to get upset about, but not going to be super rewatchable in my opinion.

She may not be able to act, but she most certainly can sing. She sang well, the guy who played the prince was good, and the girl who played the human version of Ursula was fantastic. I wish they had given her more screen time. Those were the only good things about the film.

+1

My 4 year made me watch this finally. She sings well enough but my god the CGI was terrible. Nothing positive to say about scuttle. They gave her a song and holy shite it was terrible. Dumb design for flounder. Removing the song with the crab in the kitchen I thought was a bad choice.

agree with all this. she was not a terrible singer, and some of the photos you see for this disparaging her looks are fair and in the film, but she doesn't look as bad throughout the entire movie. she's just not a beauty you'd expect in a leading role.

The black adoptive mother and lack of slavery on the Caribbean island with the inclusive dance party was the worst and most eye rolling thing to me.

i looked this up and was sad to see that she had nudes leaked. not because of her looks, just that i thought she had a bit more of a wholesome image.

why do these celebrities still do this thinking they won't get out there?

the second the fappening happened my wife abandoned any and all of this tomfoolery. sadly.

Should have put your foot down and not allowed them to watch that crap. There are ton of options to watch the Little Mermaid as it was originally made that doesn't promote stupid progressive ideals

My daughter wanted to watch it just because it was new and on Disney+. After about 20 minutes, she started making some bracelets and fidgeting with and after 30 minutes she asked if we could watch it later. That means she hates it. I said no problem and put it back football.

Yeah, the classic wholesome one where she's a 16 year old that is washed up naked on the shore and becomes a child bride, or the original story where she is a 15 year old that washes up naked on the shore, goes through excruciating pain, and tragically commits suicide?

I'm afraid to tell y'all that no fictional story is without fault and none will ever stand the test of time to changing sensibilities. I suggest the willing suspension of disbelief, for the good and bad.
