If they remake this movie I will lose all what little faith I still have in Hollywood.
No one can beat Bowie in this movie.
And too much CGI ruins movies and you know almost the whole movie would be CG.

Jennifer Connely (Sarah) speaking to David Bowie (Jareth)
Sarah: "Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin City to take back the child that you have stolen. For my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom is as great..."
Sarah: "For my will is as strong as yours, my kingdom as great... Damn. I can never remember that line."
(long dramatic pause.......)
Sarah: You have no power over me.

These are two major reasons a modern remake would have a hard time doing justice to the original. Hollywood simply doesn't have any puppet geniuses like Jim Henson left and Bowie was awesome in his role.

Russell Brand would be cast as Bowie if they remade it I'm sure.

bought the dvd about a 3 years ago figuring my kids would love it.
They didn't.
I love the part where the little goblins in armor had those little monsters on the ends of their sticks were running around the maze and they all hit heads.

Could you imagine who they would cast as Bowie's character?
Lady GaGa comes to mind

This movie is wonderful camp... I don't see how even the most blackhearted surly snob could resist at least some of its charm.
Jennifer Connelly was neither a good actress nor mature enough (or... legal enough) to be attractive in this movie, so I don't consider her a selling point.
You watch this to appreciate the Jim Henson studio and David Bowie's typically ridiculous behavior. I will admit there are some padding scenes in the movie that can fatigue you and make the whimsical charm wear thin.

The Dark Crystal is about to come on the same channel. Good to see Jim Henson`s work on display. Sadly his is a lost art form. I agree with you about Labyrinth. There are a few boring scenes but the great scenes and songs like Magic Dance and Underground make the movie fun and memorable.

I grew up on Labyrinth & Princess Bride. So many great movies that current ones will never come close in comparison to...
