If you think the two are different, that's fine. To me they are basically the same thing. Sam dies and goes to an alternate existence where he meets the Primes and they explain shite to him and send him back. It seems like the exact same thing to me.
Whay shouldn't there be a "robot heaven", is that any different than a real Heaven? That is another problem I had with tha tblogger twerp is that he was bringing up a bunch of stuff that had nothing to do with plot holes or ghetto robots, but just stuff he thought to be unbelievable. Who is he to decide what does or doesn't exist in a universe with giant robots from outer space?

This is your reasoning: Lets pretend we're at a restaurant and I had a pretty good burger and requested the same thing the next time, except this time they added shite, horse testicles, and a dead rat in my burger. Its inexcusable.
That's nowhere near my reasoning, but good try I guess.
I'll try using your hamburger example:
Say when I was a kid, I used to get an awesome hamburger from this place by my house. Well, then I moved away and that place was just a fond memory. Well, now as an adult, I moved back, and that place is back as well and selling burgers again. I remember how awesome they used to be, so I go get one. Well, it is decent, but doesn't do the old burgers I used to eat any justice really. And on top of that, it's got some things on it that I didn't care for. But all in all, a decent burger. So now I go back a second time, and order the burger. And this time, it's a little bit bigger and has a little more stuff on it, but it still tastes the same. Both burgers are still what I'd call "decent," but the main difference is that the second one was bigger and had the same things I didn't care for that the first one did, just more of them. So it was just a bigger version of a decent burger. Only the things I didn't care for stood out a little more because it was my second go-round eating them (as well as there were more of them, so it stood out more). It's still pretty much the same burger though.
This is fun.

You are the problem. You are saying people should know better than to go to a bad movie.
How are we supposed to know it was going to be so ridiculous over the top based on the first one? The second movie was a caricature of the first movie.
I am not saying people that go see the movies are the problem. I am saying people that just give Hollywood a free pass no matter what crap they spew out are the problem.
People that think a movie should not be criticized because it is a popcorn flick are the problem.
Nothing snobby about that statement. I just think the comments about knowing what you are getting into are far more condescending than anything I said.
The second movie was FAR more absurd a filled with blatant plot holes that weren't even necessary to the story. It was just sloppy.
I agree it was nothing more than a money grab but how exactly am I supposed to know they tossed out all quality controls without seeing the damn thing.

Okay, we have a misunderstanding here. I am not saying you are a problem about anything. I know I agreed with Cocomo, but really I was agreeing with the point that people who went to see Transformers 2 and actually enjoyed themselves are not what is wrong with Hollywood.
Now, of course, people who enjoyed the movie are going to defend it, or their enjoyment of it a little.
Last summer, a certain poster (Unknown) and quite a few others decided to rip me and tell me I was what was wrong with Hollywood because I dared to enjoy the movie. Unknown particularly was a real arse about it because he started stalking me in every thread I posted in bringing up bullshite. Back to my point, I'm not saying that you should have loved the second one because you liked the first one. And I don't think that anyone should be so judgemental as to tell someone else what they should and shouldn't like.

Again, I disagree (obviously).
It's not giving Hollywood a free pass. You say it was a caricature of the first one. Well, the first one was over-the-top, corny, and ridiculous...essentially a caricature in and of itself. I mean think about it. I just am not sure what people were expecting out of the sequel aside from more of the same shite (sequels are almost never remotely as good as the originals anyway).
Like I said, maybe I feel this way because the movie met my expectations (which were set fairly low), but I don't see why you expected this to be some great, deep movie. It was the same as the first one, just more over the top and more absurd.
As usual with Tf2, we may jsut have to agree to disagree. Most people didn't agree with my stance on this when it was freshly out in theaters and there were lots of threads about it.
Most people on my page in this thread are fairly similar to me in that we wanted to see cool looking transformers and lots of shite blown up. How is that giving Hollywood a "free pass" when we got out of the movie exactly what we went into it seeking? We didn't go into it for a great, well-thought-out plot. I wouldn't have cared if they were in the desert and it was snowing...I got out of it exactly what I expected to, and exactly what I would figure everyone else would have expected it to be.

If you can't see the obvious differences between the first one and the second one then there is simply no point in continuing this little debate.
I completely agree with the earlier posters hamburger analogy.
The second one was just sloppy from the female robot, stoned mother and 900 geographical oddities.
By the way, I don't dislike T2.
I just disagree when you say people should have expected as much ad deserve it if they did not like the movie. That is a condescending attitude that I do not like. Nobody goes to a movie expecting the jumbled mess that was T2.
I think the second one was a sloppy mess. It still had some fun moments in it, but it also had more than a few laugh out loud plot holes and errors.
But as i said, if you can't even see the difference between the two then no point continuing this little debate.

The only two glaring plot holes I saw were:
1. Shia, Megan and John Tuturro are trying to find a Transformer that is described as being "in D.C.". They go to the Smithsonian (doesn't specify which one, but it is understood as "in D.C.". In actuality, it is the one 40 miles outside of D.C. in the VA countryside) and find Jetfire. Jetfire awakens, tears open the hanger door and immediately they are all in a desert looking environment surrounded by old planes. Now, let's say that most people don't recognize this place as an airplane boneyard in Arizona, it obviously isn't the Mall in D.C. or the Virginia countryside.
2. Later in the movie, the group goes to the Middle East to Egypt (Pretty sure they specify in the movie that they are in Egypt). They drive to some ancient ruins in Jordan. These ruins actually are in Jordan and they say in the movie that they are in Jordan. Shortly afterward, the big battle ensues, and Shia and Megan RUN for about 20 minutes and arrive at the pyramids, yes the pyramids. Big, huge gaping can't miss it in the editing room plot hole.
Another one that I will add isn't really a plot hole IMO, more like calling BS, which can be done in any action movie, and most movies in general. The military somehow mobilizes, lands an amphibious assault, and engages the Decepticons at the pyramids in about a 15 minute time period.
There must have been some kind of space time warp or something during the battle.
Anyway, all other stuff like the public still doesn't know about them even after the prolonged firefight they had in public in Tf1, the girl robot, the robot heaven and stuff doesn't really matter to me. Those aren't really plot holes as much as they are nonsensical or unbelievable. But like I have stated before, who are we to dictate what goes on in a universe where there are giant robots from outer space.

OK there were 2 I easily noticed and I wasn't even looking for them: the "There are 5 going down" then they kill one of the Deceptecons, and the guy then said that 6 were coming back up. Thats 1st grade math.
Then theres the Transformers being a rumor, despite the fact that they destroyed half of LA in the previous film, to where they would have been seen by 2 million people in the very least. If 90% of America didn't notice this and had seen the previous one, our average IQ is somewhere in the 60s?

Ok seriously, was the first one that much better that it really pissed people off when they saw the second one? Yall are acting like they made a sequel to Schindler's List with robots.
To me the first one was worse because it actually tried to have a plot and failed. The next day I got the second one in the mail and was more pleased with it because it was full of giant robots fricking shite up.

i'm not saying i didn't see plotholes, all i'm asking for is what did you guys see.
As far as agreeing to expecting a bad movie. I think what we are saying is that we didn't expect as awesome display of storyline, which is what we got for a movie based on action figures.
eta....thanks omlandshark and alajones, all i was wondering is what you guys noticed in the movie.

I did in the link I provided.
The Fallen, who is a Prime, can only be killed by a Prime right? Well Megatron killed a Prime, so he must be stronger than a Prime and therefore stronger than the Fallen.

Wow that was pretty damn funny.

That's a little condescending as well.
And I'm not trying to be condescending at all. Really. I just think people expected FAR too much out of Tf2. I think this is where we disagree, and is the basis for this whole argument:
quote:
Nobody goes to a movie expecting the jumbled mess that was T2.
Because it was exactly what I expected. A jumbled mess. The first movie was a jumbled mess. The second was just more jumbled with obvious plot holes and geographical inaccuracies.
I guess I always feel like the wya people criticize Tf2, it makes it look like they think Tf1 was devoid of its own plot holes and idiocy, when it had a lot of its own as well.
