True enough and fair point. Marvel went all-in on the big bad in Thanos. It paid off ridiculously, but didn't leave a lot of room. You're right- the only step-up from Gauntlet Thanos that would translate to the MCU is Galactus. I'd love to see Mephisto, Doom, of course, and Annihilus. And I'm talking overall arching stories- Hell, even Yellowjacket was a pretty cool character in Ant-Man. I just like the idea of a true badass to take on these characters.

I read an interview on marvel.com earlier with Hiddlestone and apparently Jonathan Majors showed up in the last few days of filming and just killed it. Makes sense as to why he was announced so early as Kang back in November 2020. He filmed the He Who Remains stuff like a few weeks later

Imagine him showing up in this and us all wondering who the frick he was supposed to be

This opens up way more possibilities than Kang. You could bring back dead characters, good and bad. They can be completely different in terms of looks and personalities. You can do reboots almost however you like.

Very true, off the page like I said. They continue to reinvent what’s possible in the universe which is crazy to see here at the 13-year mark. It felt in the early years like there were some limitations in place, but it’s increasingly become like the comics where anything (and anyone) can happen. I honestly am not so sure we’re done with Ralph Bohner or, based on response, Peters as Quiksilver for instance. We could see other favorites taken from the Fox-verse, Sony-verse, or even pre-D+ Marvel shows too, sky is the limit.

That's why I expect Mahershala Ali will pop up as Blade in the next Doctor Strange movie. You don't announce the casting of a an actor that far in advance. Blade isn't on the Marvel calendar, and that goes as far out as May 2023

I'm interested to see how Marvel is going to handle telling a coherent story because they are also setting up things that are resigned to one timeline with Valentina Contessa in Black Widow and Falcon/Winter Solider.

That is very much a more realist-based storyline and it'll be interesting to see how it ties together with this more fantasy-based storyline involving the multiverse.

Don't know if you watched the Daredevil series but they can do the grounded characters like that.

Daredevil arch enemy in the show was kingpin of course but they had the Hand organization in it as well with more supernatural elements.

You can just have FaWTS or the new Black Widow go up against one of the somewhat grounded yet still supernatural more sci-fi villains, they don't have to fight super soldiers all the time...or if it is a SS they could've gotten their powers like Black Panther through some magical stuff, not a serum

The blade series was one of my favorite movies growing up. Not sure how i feel about him being added to the MCU. To me snipes is irreplaceable.

I’m glad she did it. We’re getting movies about multiverse!

Jesus Christ the guy who plays Kang is fricking AWFUL. Terrible actor. I really liked Loki, but the big reveal of not just the lame character (I understand he may be a variant), but the truly BAD actor, kinda lessened the show imo.

Extremely controversial take. I'll make sure to bookmark it and laugh after I see him more in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantamania and Loki Season 2

I feel like Marvels may be going to nerd heavy on these shows. I watched most of the originals without ever reading a comic book and was able to follow what was happening. I didn’t have a GD clue what was going on in this episode. I feel like I knew something big or grand was happening but don’t really have any context for why I should know that.

Sorta was a letdown for a non-comic junkie, but I gather that the diehards adored it. Probably best to cater to those instead of the casual fan, but I found it beyond confusing.

I found the finale a bit of a letdown. I would have like to have seen Kang looking like the comic version. I didn't find him particularly intimidating as a dude in cape. His delivery was somewhat silly.

This wasn't really Kang. I don't think this guy even came from the same timeline as Kang in the MCU, so it probably isn't even someone who kind of evolved from Rama Tut to Kang to Immortus as he grew older like in the comics. He was a variant, and just like there were some pretty widely different variants of Loki from different timelines, I'm sure he'll turn out to be widely different from Kang.

I think it would have worked better if they had aged the character up with makeup or prosthetics or GCI. I think this guy was just exhausted and weary of holding things together through the TVA. He didn't really even try to mount a defense against Loki & Sylvie once they got past Alioth. I'm sure he had access to technology that could have given him a fighting chance even against two Asgardian gods. I think the actor was trying to portray kind of a extreme weariness and maybe a bit of insanity from being alone so long and shouldering so much self imposed "responsibility".

Chronopolis is where Kang resides which is heavily hinted at being in the Quantum Realm as seen in Ant-Man 2.

It’s at the end of Space and Time. It’s not in the Quantum Realm. Y’all are seeing something that just isn’t there.

It actually DOES cater to the casual fan, if you think about it.

I know the nerd crew was excited about "hell yeah, KANG!"; but if you go in blind, there's a huge point made in this episode (and show); alternate timelines/universes now apply, and are now canon in Marvel.

So, all those reasons we don't see the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Deadpool etc interacting with the Avengers- they're gone. They can simply be in an alternate universe... and the TVA displayed they had the technology (not a magical power limited to one person, a simple device the size of a phone) to hop from one to another.
Tech can be reverse engineered, and can be created by others with similar intelligence.

Yeah this is what’s hard to grasp for people.

Jonathan Majors will play Kang.
Jonathan Majors was He Who Remains.
Kang and He Who Remains are variations of the same person.

So no Kang was not in this episode.

I can see that point of view.

For anybody who wants to catch up on the basics of Kang without reading tons of comics, I would recommend the Avengers Forever trade paperback. It crams a lot of the history on Kang and his incarnations as Rama Tut, Immortus, etc. in one place. It also is a good example of Kang's sheer will power.

Semantics. Dude literally said he has been called many things, "a jerk, a CONQUERORRRRRR, etc..."

Semantics. So yes he is a variant Kang. Who cares.

Jonathan Majors being 50 different variants won't change the fact that he is Nathanial Richards, Kang The Conqueror, Ramatut, He Who Remains, Ironlad, yadadadada.
