So...if Jacob brought the Losties to the island, how did he know that Desmond would fail to push the button at that very moment? I was hoping the cause of Desmond's tardiness was something we could attribute to Jacob.

Theres where you are thinking too much into it.... I think its all fate for one. And as things are playing out, I dont think it would have mattered, they would have eventually gotten there anyways.

I agree. I was just thinking it would be cool to look back and realize whatever distracted Desmond was actually Jacob. Could have been a cool "oh shite" moment.

Is there a list? Now that the factions are forming maybe we can see how the touching before/after relates to what side people have gone?

watched an ep. from the third season when Jack, kate, etc were brought to the other island and saw it mentioned by one of the others that Jack wasn't on Jacob's list. didn't make any sense

The places that were shown in the mirrors were where the individuals were touched. It should have been the hospital if it was Jack.

How did they get a list from jacob, anyway? We know that ben didn't anticipate the crash. We know that ben can't communicate with jacob. We know richard wasn't even on the island when the plane crashed. So who obtained the list?

Richard was in miami to prove to juliet that her sister had been cured of cancer as promised.
So are you saying that ethan and goodwin travelled back and forth between the crash sites and the dharma barracks? They seemed to know who was on jacob's list... As evidenced by goodwin telling ana lucia that he had been pushing for her to be considered as well.

No, because the first think Ben says before they run out to the crash sites is "Listen, learn,I want lists in 3 days"

I originally thought he wanted for them to just write down the names of all of the passengers... But he wouldn't have needed that with mikhael compiling information. Maybe those lists were people they thought were worthy of living among them?

And then Jacks childhood house... just didn't seem to fit. You would think he would have seen the hospital instead.
Could just be how they chose to shoot it

There is the possibility that jacob showed him his childhood home to get it into his head that he was destined from the beginning.
