WHERE'S VINCENT!!!!!?????
No clue but I just realized where was Richard? He warned Sawyer that Flocke was going to kill everyone on the island and I sort of assumed Richard would be going to the Temple but apparently he had some insight into what was about to happen.

My idea's for next week.
1 - Ben doesn't die. He was on Kimmel last week and said he is alive on the show with four left to film.
2 - Sawyer and Jin are at Claire's shack
3 - Jeff Fahey and the other new crashers will me Jack and Hurley at the lighthouse next week.
4 - Sayid is gonna bite it next week.

When did they hint that flocke knows about the alt timeline? I missed that.
Locke said he knew a way that he could have Nadia again, and putting him in the alternate timeline seems like the only possibility.

I really liked the episode....but they keep telling us about answers....we got nothing of any real substance as far as answers

The whole "Jacob promised my son's life" seems fishy to me. Everything we have seen from Jacob he has never bargained or promised anyone anything... EVER. He has always asked for help without giving a reason or promising anything back.
Ben told Juliet that if she stayed on the Island that Jacob would heal her sister of cancer. I think that Jacob does this alot.

Ben also admitted he has never talked to Jacob

Richard relayed the messages to him though, to where I think Ben was telling the truth about Jacob's offer to Juliet.

OK, I guess I am getting confused with the terminology for the timelines. What do you mean by "putting (Sayid) in the alternate timeline"? We saw Sayid in what Lostpedia calls the flash-sideways timeline when Sayid's brother is married to Nadia. Sayid is already part of the timeline and killed Keamy who apparently stabbed Sayid's brother. Do you think Flocke is suggesting that he can cause Sayid's brother to die in the hospital leaving Nadia free to marry Sayid?

Thats my guess as of now. He would think that is better than the life he has now.

The show's just never been about the answers to me. People are gonna be disappointed in the end because not enough questions will be answered. And I think a lot of people take for granted some of the answers we do get. Now nothing tonight was huge answer wise but we got some good stuff involving Dogen's backstory and Jacob's involvement bringing him to the Island. We're also starting to get some hints as to MIB's endgame, and the plot moved forward significantly with the sides of the battle essentially now being drawn.

I really think these people that are bitching about this episode not having any answers are going to be really pissed off when the finale comes around and they'll say "Well the finale sucked because they didn't answer ________". People need to get their minds out of answer mode and just enjoy the journey.

so are they all going to end up on a giant othello/chess/backgammon board in the last episode and jacob and MIB turn giant and move them around?

Did Dogen assume the role of Jacob...?
Further, someone besides Flocke killed him. And he likely knew it was going to happen, hence his need to talk to Jack and Hurley, of whom who would become Jacob afterward...

Best episode of the season. I'm surprised that focus group ranked at least three episodes of the first nine above it.
People bitching about answers are ridiculous. The writers aren't going to spell every little bit of information out. We learned a hell of a lot about the numbers the last two weeks. This week we learned about Dogan's backstory and there is a strong hint about the role the alternate reality may play. We also have the most badass character on the show admitting that he has gone full blown evil. Furthermore, we learn that without Jacob (and Dogan), the temple is no longer a safe haven from the MIB.
Biggest question of the night: What did Kate see? Her facial expression when the smoke is passing over her was great. She is obviously seeing something important because she is literally stunned for the remainder of the episode. I rewatched it and there is something going on. I can only make out flashes of light in the smoke so maybe one of you guys can slow it down and see if anything is visible.
This season has been pretty solid and moving at a good pace, in my opinion. We have five episodes (six if you count the premiere as two) and three - the premiere, the Locke-centric, and tonight's - have been excellent. The Jack-centric one last week was pretty good as well.

We have gotten some answers so far this season related to the nature of Jacob and MIB and at this point I really don't foresee a twist where Jacob is actually evil and vice versus. We know what has happened to Claire and now Sayid: they are basically overcome with MIB's darkness.
We know that there is a alternate/flash-sideways timeline created by the incident when Juliet detonated the H-bomb detonator. We know that in the alternate timeline Flight 815 never crashed yet the lives of the characters in that timeline are somehow linked the island timeline because they seem to be questioning events in that timeline (Jack not remembering his appendix being removed). We know that the names and corresponding numbers are candidates to replace Jacob and the numbers correspond to degrees on the lighthouse dial where apparently the candidates were being monitored. We know that Jack is Jacob's prime candidate and apparently Sawyer is MIB's main recruit. We have gotten a lot of answers if you ask me.

That's because you use your brain.
If I wanted everything cheaply handed to me on a silver platter, I'd watch Grey's Anatomy.

Makes sense to me. Apparently MIB knew Dogen had to be killed for MIB to enter the temple and he sent hit-man Sayid in to do the dirty work hehe I also agree that Jacob knew Dogen was going to die which is why he is hoping Jack will take the lead.

So in the next promo they said ben meets his demise....so they just str8 up in the promo said he dies....
to be clear, they said "the man that brought death to so many will face his own demise"
maybe face=meet. I can see that. But maybe it's like facing your own fears. Or maybe they were not actually talking about ben. It looked like they were talking about him but who knows. Maybe it's sayid they were talking about.

Jack is Jacob's prime candidate
This we don't. If it weren't for the Jack and Sawyer thing going, I would have no doubt that Hurley is the person Jacob has in mind to be his replacement.
