are the only ones that the Others are truly concerned with.

She was one of the six touched by Jacob prior to 815
Posted on 2/10/10 at 2:52 pm to Antonio Moss
yeah, but they don't seem concerned with her at all.

seems like a stretch

If true I would assume the writers intended it this way. Maybe they just needed a full episode to get the rest of the questions out of the way and now we will get answers non-stop.

Agreed that the number of questions is a stretch. What in the hell constitutes a question on this show?

Honestly, anyone who is bitching about answers and questions really doesn't appreciate the show. I look forward to every episode and it is good shite every time. Whether they leave me hanging with more questions or give me some new info to chew on and create my own theories, I still like to watch.
The twists and questions that I have not figured out is why I like LOST so much. Would the show really be as good as it has been if they had given away answers to the Island/Others/ Jacob early on or even spread throughout the series?
The answer is No, it wouldn't have.
The writers have created this giant concept and it will go down as one of the greatest series in TV history becuase of how they brought up questions and answered them.
Just my two cents.

I agree with you that withholding the answers has been the key to the success of the series...just like Turn of the Screw which was referenced in one of the earlier seasons.
With that said though...
I AM READY FOR SOME FREAKING ANSWERS!

The thing that has always pissed me off about the Others is that never give explanations. I know it is necessary for the show and audience, but maybe if they ever explained the truth and why they do things, the Losties wouldn't get so pissed off, shoot at them, and try to escape.
I mean instead of begging Sawyer to stay, they could have told him why. Or explained to Jack what was going on with Sayid and the monster and Jacob, etc.

same game . . . should have the same rules applied to each player.
to continue the baseball idea... one team is on offense and one on defense. The offense tries to score (one set of rules) while the defense tries to prevent the score (different set of rules).
Maybe instead of the same game repeating itself, its more like innings where one is trying to escape while the other is trying to prevent the escape then it switches; therefore, different rules based on position.

quote:Possibly. Also, anyone else familiar with the rules of backgammon? If any of your pieces have been taken and are off the board, you can't move any other pieces before that one is back in play. Jacob's death makes it harder for anyone to block MIB's moves, and perhaps Jacob can't make any more moves without a viable body.

I'll be glad when the answers are revealed, just reading this thread and the theories (some are just flat out stupid) has filled my head with nonsense
hopefully some of you will shut the frick up - especially any cocksuckers that think Hurley is a good character

And so far, we've gotten nothing (or not much).
You can't see the forest through the trees. Just seeing Claire alone is huge, IMO. We're also learning more about how MIB "affects" others on the island through Sayid.

I think it goes back to the faith vs. destiny motif. They want the characters to make their own choices based on faith/free will & don't want to persuade them in any way, which to me signifies that they are the "good guys" since that was Jacob's stance.

But to me, that is stupid. Free will is based on being to able to know you are making the right decision. The "others" don't give them any reason to have faith or believe that it is the right thing to do. In fact, they torture, shoot, kidnap, etc. and then say "hey, listen to us", but we aren't gonna tell you why

Either that or they don't have to power or authority to stop them according to the "rules"...makes me wonder whether Jack is held is special regard by them.

A ton of theories were flying around last week about whether the ash around the cabin was to keep something in or something out.
That was answered on the "pop up video" version of last week's show, when they said that the ash was to keep smokie out.

When the others found out Jacob was dead, why did they start spreading ash? Shouldn't the temple already have been surrounded by an ash ring if they wanted to keep smokie out?
