For the record, I think this is the only major flaw in the show.
The point wasn’t that she was hot. It was that any young woman coming in was fair game. Pete’s first comments to her were about her needing work to get to be attractive.

I think a lot of the men were supposed to be attracted to her confidence

They make it pretty clear she's not on the same level as girls like Megan and Joan

Some of you guys clearly have never dealt with the concept of “office hot”

It’s pretty plainly spelled out that she is sought after in the first season because she’s fresh meat and seen as naive and an easy target for these young dudes that are still living like they are in college and have a 1950s attitude towards women. It’s not because she’s drop dead gorgeous

On rewatch it's funny how often Pete is on the right side of an argument but he's such an annoying little pest you still want him to eat shite

Every character is so flawed. I don't know I actually liked any of them at the end.

Great series.

Did a rewatch when it hit HBO. Forgot how much I loved this show.

I truly felt bad for Don's kids.

Did Megan always just view Don as her meal ticket?

It seemed like she truly loved him at first.

Maybe she overlooked the cheating and gaslighting while she lived a glamorous life...but once she moved away and he was losing his job she just shitcans him.

The scene where she dumps him was genius. He is explaining what happened with him and SC&P and it all mirrors exactly what happened between the two of them.

1. Why is pete campbell the only one that is showing age with his receding hairline?

The show takes place over 10 years and was filmed over the course of 8 years. There wasn’t a serious gap between how the actors aged and how the characters aged. Jon Hamm I think spent about 3 decades looking exactly 43 years old.

Peggy to me just represented that all the junior members of firm wanted to be Don but couldn’t do it, not with the caliber of women Don was pulling - Peggy was the closest they thought they could reasonably get.

I thought Ken was likable too but it has been a while since I rewatched it. I'm starting it back up this week.

There’s a lot of more attractive girls around that don’t get nearly the amount of attention that Peggy does. I’ve watched the series 3 times and it sticks out more and more each time.

Clearly seems to be a point of disagreement here.

1 - those girls have been there longer and are no longer fresh meat or naive as Peggy. They know how to play the game that Joan has mastered. They likely went through the same thing she did when they first started working there.

2 - Peggy is a main character of the show. We are seeing her perspective. We see her get attention and not as much from the random background characters that are also receptionists because it’s a show mainly from her and Dons perspective.

As soon as that newness wears off, it’s a pretty constant discussion point between various characters that she’s pretty frumpy.

Ken is the only guy who (outside of early season 1) is eternally optimistic and content with life and overall just a nice human being- until the world he’s in starts to consume and destroy it all and makes him similarly jaded to everyone else in the show. He’s pretty ruthless like the rest of them by the end after he loses an eye and a foot

I really hated how abrupt their exits from the show were

Especially ginsberg who seemed like he was set up for a much bigger role when he's introduced but the writers had no idea what to do with the character

I just watched it for the first time. I agree on the Peggy stuff---she sucked. I never gave A Handmaid's Tale a look since I read the book a few years ago and the book is a communist manifesto.

I really like the series. Nobody has mentioned Bertram yet. I liked him being the voice of reason, the oldest and wisest, the only one who did not seem to be an alcoholic (he would partake occasionally, but was not controlled by it) and he lived to see the moon landing. I loved his ghost singing to Don. Made it seem like the end of an era.

Funniest line from the entire series-----in one of the last episodes when Don's apartment is being robbed by the con artist-----Don's 8 year old son, "Are we negroes?" I laughed out loud.

Haha, I forgot about this. Dude went through the ringer with the Chevy account.

I always laugh when he is on those B12 shots and dancing.

He definitely gets the last laugh at the end and it was great to watch.
