Jeremiah Johnson. Pops gave me the dvd a few years ago, I doubt I would've ever given it a shot, really liked it a lot.

There aren't really any, my dad has AWFUL taste in movies. He loves mindless action movies (Steven Segal, Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damn, etc) and old kung-fu movies. He plans on going to see Fast Five on Saturday, that says about as much as needed I think.
My mom on the other hand...
James Bond films
The Godfather
12 Angry Men
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Star Wars
Casablanca
Psycho
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
I like to think I'd have discovered them without her help since they're all pretty much classic movies that every movie nerd loves.

True Grit-I was 5 when the original came out and my dad took me to see it. He wanted just he and I do something together. I'll never forget it.
Horse soldiers-my dad was an extra in it. I never have spotted him in the movie, but I watch it every time its on just so I can try.
Stripes-We had just gotten HBO and he was trying to watch it in the bedroom while my mom was asleep. He told me later that he was laughing so hard that he was shaking the bed and was scared he was going to wake my mom up. He had to turn off the tv and finish watching it at another time.

Every John Wayne movie ever made.
Still love Hellfighters because of him. I doubt I would have ever seen it if not for my Dad.

The one that stands out the most is henry fonda's mr. Roberts. He recorded it on a vhs tape for me when I was probably 9 or 10 because he thought I would like it.

Well f**k me, I am one old motherf**ker! Y'all could've named at least one movie made before I was born!
Posted on 4/29/11 at 2:28 am to Stewie Griffin
From Here To Eternity-he's in the movie
The Yearling-trying to teach responsibility
Robin Hood (Errol Flynn)-when my mom wasn't around he would let us "eat like Robin Hood".
We ate pork chops by hand
The African Queen-Bogart was a dirty talking little man in it
The Sand Pebbles-He hadn't seen it and thought it was a regular "war" movie
Sergeant York-one of the best "war" movies
High Noon-one of the best westerns
Pride of the Yankees-he hated the Yankees but loved Cooper
The Benny Goodman Story-he had all of his records; I've given him some that he didn't have
The Glenn Miller Story-he also had these records
Winchester 73-another classic western
Bridge Over the River Kwai-my brothers and I liked it better than he did
Its a Wonderful Life-watched it at least once every year
added:
The Ghost & Mr. Chicken-we used to yell, "that a boy Luther" a lot
I'm an old guy! My dad is now 80 years old and very seldom watches movies.
Movies I introduced to him:
Private Ryan-the scene where the Army officer and the priest go tell the mom about her sons really got to him. He remembered that stuff really happening. He also told me lots of the houses in town had the banners with stars on them for the number of sons that had gone off to war.
Field of Dreams-he used to coach my Little League team. I signed up and played for a friend's dad's team for Pony League the summer after the 9th grade. No, we didn't play catch afterwards.
