Speaking of the virus, I heard that the 41 cast missed shipping out by like 3 days from the CA stay at home order. No doubt, some of them will be re-cast. Goddamn that must have sucked.

I didn't like the sound of Jeff saying "teenagers" should apply. The Amazing Race family season was complete garbage.

I remember reading a short article about casting for a new show called Survivor in a USA Today newspaper in/around 2000. It emphasized the survival aspect of the game and I told my girlfriend at the time that I would go and not worry about surviving; I would focus on turning people against each other and win through manipulation.
In that first season, people would freeze frame tapes of next week’s highlights to see who was at future challenges or tribal councils because CBS would put real footage out there. CBS also used to update the code of their website to show who got voted out and then comment out the code until after the vote. It was all so innocent...
I still think that Russell Hantz was a better player than Tony - he just needed a better PR team.

Denise's move to slay the queen might have been the most obvious and overblown "move" of the season.
Whathisname pulling on a nailed in decoration thinking it was an idol still cracks me up.
Michele should have gotten 2nd over Natalie. I understand some didn't vote for her because they were afraid Natalie would win, but still.

Decided to watch redemption island on cbs all access.
I think winners at war has spoiled me forever. The level of player on that show was so high obviously. Redemption island there are some real morons.

they should have and extinction island with the "possibility" of getting back in the game..... and then never let them back in.

They have always had a few of these mixed in, going all the way back to Sue in season 1.

It was a big move in how she carried it out, not really in who it sent packing. Denise's constantly touting it got old for sure though, and she basically did nothing the rest of the time she was in the game except make demonstrative facial expressions.

Yeah, I don't really get the point being made. Survivor has always done a really good job at casting a diverse cast. Young, old, gay, straight, trans, quiet, boisterous, straight laced, oddball, black, white, Asian, HIspanic, etc. The show has been "woke" since its first season when an openly gay man won, and his arch nemesis was a "truck driver, walmart, female football player type."

I also feel like in recent seasons a lot of the better looking players have been targeted early.

Gotcha. There has been a trend of lesser young attractive girls in recent seasons. Not sure it's because the casters have gotten more "woke" or not, because they haven't really been replaced with more of the "woke" demographics.
And the commentary at tribal has definitely gotten into more social issues in recent years. I don't really have a problem with that as the show to me has always been a sort of microcosm of society, and those issues have been hot topics in recent years.
