In the context of a comic movie, you will find no better match up than the one between Batman and the Joker.
They are polar opposites. Batman is order, Joker is chaos.
Seeing Batman struggle to adapt to this completely unpredictable force is what made the story so compelling. His presence enabled the Joker to exist, and once he was released, there was no way to return back to the way things were.

This may be a blow away because i'm not gonna see it for a week or two...but I remember Jack being an awesome joker in Batman...is Ledger really that much better?

My only complaint about the films is Bale's voice when he's in the suit. I understand making it a little deeper but at times it just sounds ridiculous.

yeah this bothers me too, they could at least give some kind of explanation. that's not a natural voice

oh yeah that's still annoying. i was going to point that out but i think people are going to think i'm being negative about the movie (when i'm not). i mean i don't know what you can do with it, but his growl is as over the top as his adamantium bones

Yeah, after his fall at the very end I thought for a moment that the franchise might do the Batman breaking his back thing from the comics. Instead, he just stood up.

so before I go to bed...just trying to get it answered..real question...is Ledger THAT much better than Jack was as the joker?

that kinda gets me excited for the movie then...because I still to this day think Jack was AWESOME in that movie as the Joker.

It's two different interpretations of the character. I used to be a fan of Nicholson's Joker, but after seeing that movie as an adult, I think Ledger is a much better, realistic and believable Joker.

There is no question....the talk of it being the best action movie of the past decade is mostly post-good movie euphoria (although I am not sure it isn't true), the talk of the Joker being the best villian ever, period, is not.

Ledger's performance killed this series...it was that good. I don't think anybody can follow that. I seriously doubt it.

I can't wait for Ledgers next villain role then!

Spoilers
I think whoever wrote that sequence where the Joker offers to do a magic trick and make the pencil disappear, only to make it penetrate and stick within the head of the henchman who attacked him after that statement needs to get like 5 million dollars of the profits for that piece alone.

He has GOT to have a sore throat after filming.
ETA:
IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN DK, READ THE FOLLOWING:
On the following page there is an unmarked spoiler that can ruin the entire movie for ya.
Apparently since the prick is so bitter about reading a post in spite of a spoiler warning, he isn't adding one to his post bitching about it.
So do NOT read tubucoco's posts on the following page.
