Great episode. The Negan performance was completely terrifying. Absolutely spot on. This season better continue to deliver, though, because I'm still not okay with them making us wait this long to see who would get Lucille'd on the show.

Fantastic episode. Only real downfall to me was that since we've been talking about someone getting the bat for months now, I didn't much of the same shock factor seems like most other did.
I really liked the idea someone had that I thought would have been more effective. Show the Abraham death in the finale, and then the Glenn death would have been an absolute curveball in the premier.
I guess sitting and expecting heads bashed in for this long when I finally saw it it was almost like oh ok, there it is.

Yeah, JDM as Negan is perfect casting. The looks, the physicality, and that cheery, good natured voice while he describes how he's going to rip your head off and shite down your neck.
I just hate that he can't be as filthy-mouthed as he was originally written to be. We got a few "shits" but Negan is not Negan without every other word being "frick".
I thought I read somewhere that they shot his scenes for broadcast and then again for streaming/non-broadcast with the cuss words included.
I would really like to see tonight's episode but with "Real Negan" dialogue.

I find it absolutely astonishing that the torture porn that was broadcasted on cable television tonight got the green light but god forbid you slip a "frick" in the dialogue. Gotta think of the children I guess

I may be the only one, but I liked Glenn. He represented the everyday man to me. He didn't start off as a badass. Guy was a fricking pizza delivery dude when it started. Gives us all hope that we could become decent survivalists and zombie killers if needed.
I didn't have a problem with the graphic violence in this ep, though it was a bit shocking. That's Negan and we know humans IRL are certainly capable of just as bad. My worry is that in order to defeat Negan they may become Negan. And that would be as much a death knell for humanity as a zombie virus.

No, you aren't the only one. Glen was one of my favorites.
I couldn't watch the beatings - especially Glenn - it went on for too long. For some reason I can watch all the walker feedings, and it doesn't bother me. But the human on human violence does get to me; and those beatings were, for lack of a better term, simply too much.

I guess I don't get it. By next episode I would have written Daryl off as dead. In war there are casualties and he's a soldier. Then when Neagan comes knocking at the front gate I'd open it, raise a pistol to his head, and pull the trigger. Snipers would be positioned to take out the rest of his crew.

Kirkman said not only did he want Negan to break Rick, he wanted him to break the viewer. I think he definitely succeeded in doing that.

Except Negan's crew is so much larger than all of Alexandria. If they tried to pull anything, most of them would be killed. Negan probably has preparations in case some group tried to pull something like this on them.

Agreed. Glenn served his purpose on the show and should have died a long time ago. He needed to go and I've been wanting it to happen for at least a season and a half, if not longer.
One thing I will say is that I am glad they didn't bitch out and just kill off nobodies, and it was actually characters with some consequence. There hasn't been any real threat to the core group in a long time, so I'm glad they didn't just kill off like Sasha/Eugene/Aaron or "lesser" level people.

Thing is nobody knows what would happen if you killed Negan, cutting the head off the snake. Here is what I do know, that group would probably be a bit disorganized. Also, who knows if his followers would follow the orders of a dead man. Add in the fact that Rick's group would be well armed and in defendable positions negating the numbers disadvantage.
