Interns aren't bad, playing off of JD & Turk, I'm good with it. HR lady, can we reanimate the corpse of Sam Lloyd? HR sucks in real life, she could just be a mega villain instead of trying to make such cringey jokes. Nurse Roberts is sorely missed. I want to see Janitor. I'm pleasantly surprised they didn't completely torpedo with god knows what like they've done to so many intellectual properties. I 100% expected it to suck.

98% positive reviews on rotten tomatoes. Looks like the fans agree they knocked it out of the park. All the odds were against them and they succeeded.

It's streaming on Hulu now.

#Scrubs Thanks for watching (if you did). Cryptic talk: Yes, he will be in a bunch more eps. Yes, they will both also make appearances. And sorry if anything disappointed you, but not all JD's dreams can come true... - Bill Lawrence quote last night

I was worried that they might have gotten soft and PC with their jokes. But there was plenty of taking shots at gays (and stereotyping them), dick/erection/sexual harassment (thanks Todd), and then I lol'd when the 2 nurses made fun of Turks ashy elbows.

series creator Bill Lawrence has explained the thought process behind the decision. He noted that the revival was conceived around the idea of evolution. “But Aseem, the showrunner, when they came to me with their idea, it was, it’d be cool to see those students as the teachers now, and to do that, you need to see somebody take Dr. Cox’s role,” he said.

quote:

Lawrence added, “J.D. had to step in the mantle of, you need to be for these kids what I was to you, the dynamic between J.D. and Dr. Cox is such a big one.” However, the creator also emphasized that Cox remains an essential presence within the series. “Dr. Cox is a huge character on the show,” he said, confirming that the character “comes back at the end of the show and will continue on next year.”

quote:

John C. McGinley, who portrays Dr. Cox, also noted that his character’s retirement is not a final farewell. “I’ll come back to the hospital in a profoundly different capacity,” he said, suggesting that the character’s influence will continue.

Bill Lawrence confirming some good news. Good sign for future seasons.

I imagine it's going to be a lot like Fuller House - the adults / caretakers are not the caretakers any more and the grown kids are now in that role. You still saw Bog Saget, Stamos, Coullier, Loughlin, but it was only every few episodes, and they came in to just visit or give some advice. Dr. Cox and Kelso (after this season) will likely be in similar roles I would think.

Episodes 1 and 2 explained

Interviewer - Do we get to see Dr Cox life outside the hospital and does that include any scenes with Jordan?

Dr Cox - Yes and Yes

Interviewer - How is Cox adjusting to not going in and clocking in as the chief of medicine every single day at scared heart?

Dr Cox - He has much bigger problems

Bill Lawrence has something up his sleeve that no one was expecting.

I think you hit it on the nail.

if it's patient.

My first thought when they announced the show was coming back. I thought a good idea was to have Kelso be a patient and go thru some sort of dementia storyline arc because I remember on a podcast Bill was going thru that was his father and it hit him hard in his personal life.

Was that they couldn't have Perry's character in this cultural climate. He uses a girl name now, he's transphobic.

Guess they figured the same

Hell, The Todd was on screen what? 10 seconds over 2 episodes?

And even then he was giving disclaimers.

That shite will get old real fast.

They spoke to Bill Lawrence friend (the original JD) and he said Dr Cox couldn't survive into today's climate so it only made sense. As long as Dr Cox is on screen they will keep him acting the same way I'm hoping.

Todd was only ever in a couple scenes in scrubs an episode anyway. He said just as many dirty things as he said in the original which I was surprised these 2 episodes. He talked about the growth of his dong and banging women.
They even made fun of JD looking like a skinny dyke body type.

The only character that seemed like it will get old was that SNL girl. They could have made her more like a bitch than a creepy liberal HR woman and more like Toby from the office. The dynamic worked between Ted and everyone because they made fun of ted and didn't take him serious.

I never watched this show all the way through. Just caught reruns every now and again. Should I binge watch the OG before starting this?

Sure, but that’s the generational differences of the show. It should be a recurring theme for character friction and laughs.

Really 1.

The other 2 things he said were sandwiched by disclaimers, making them just eyeroll inducing

And Park, who will be the best at everything because he is the best at everything

Just a shitty woke stand in for Perry

I am ok with having an outlier opinion.

Because it is mine.

I am not going to shy away from it, because majority.

I will still watch the entire season, hoping it gets better. Hell. . .I watched the horrific last season. No way this can be worse than that

Same here. I loved everything else about E1 (although I'm hoping Dr. Cox is still around in future episodes).
