Many of the movies depicting snipers shooting through another snipers scope are based on Carlos Hathcock. That man is a legend and is one person I would not have wanted tracking me.

What's amazing is that on the "through the scope" kill, he said he shot where the "glint" came from.

On a different note, how'd you like to be on a .50 cal Barrett for 12-18 hours, picking off turrrrrists? One of the snipers said after you shoot about 40 rounds on that thing, you're ready to quit.

I just checked the guide, and it's not on it. So that means it's not coming on within the next 7 days. Which, of course, is bullshite.

I talked with my son yesterday about that show. He's a career Marine officer stationed at Quantico and one of his jobs is to interview snipers returning from Iraq to revise/update training manuals. He has met some of the snipers featured in that show, and has gotten to fire some of the weapons used, including that 50 cal semi automatic. He told me it's like an explosion going off next to your head, and the recoil goes through your whole body - firing that weapon a number of times does get old.

Yeah, you could see that when they showed the snipers firing it in slow motion. Before they showed that I was telling my wife that you gotta be a MAN to stay on one of those things all day.

And BTW Blueridge, to your son for his service to our country.
