this whole story is fricking bizarre. as are any cases of sex changes. I never thought of gender as a choice. You are what you are.

That being said, I really don't care if someone decides to mutilate themselves. I'll break out the popcorn when people start thinking they should have been born a different species.

Tolerance doesn't mean that I condone or even understand said behavior.

True, but I can still think that something is idiotic and bizarre and disagree with it while remaining "tolerant." Trey Parker was right about that too.

Damn. Parker is like a fountain of wisdom.

Agree on both counts.

I just don't understand the necessity of cutting off genitalia. Why can't you just be a dude that likes girly shite? No big deal. No need to call Paul Bunyan.

No. Because said "someone" would have just now screamed "It's sexual reassignment!!!" at you while expecting everyone to believe that getting one's penis surgically mutilated and fashioned into a makeshift vagina is perfectly normal and natural.

Trey Parker nailed it. Why stop at changing sexes? Wanna be tall and black? Sure. Wanna be a fricking dolphin? Go ahead.

Sorry, pal. I'm afraid that this is yet another symptom of an ever-increasingly fricked-up society. Pop culture can vulgarize society in an attempt to normalize and proliferate it all it likes. I'm not buying. Wanna get your dick chopped off? Go for it. Just don't expect me to tell you how great I think you are for doing it.

Sorry. You've got to be trolling. I just don't accept that anyone could possibly have liked that movie.

Then again, maybe I should watch it again. I'm sure its scatterbrained ridiculousness would make a lot more sense now.

Gender is social and therefore malleable.

Sex is biological and therefore immutable.

I biologically have XY chromosomes, this cannot be changed, and it determines my sex to be male.

I like football, the color blue, beer, wear my hair short, and regularly wear polos, jeans, & boots. This is all social and can be changed and means I conform to the male gender role.

You're overthinking it, but I guess I get your meaning.

Ohhhhh...

So you just saying this:

quote:

No. Because said "someone" would have just now screamed "It's sexual reassignment!!!" at you while expecting everyone to believe that getting one's penis surgically mutilated and fashioned into a makeshift vagina is perfectly normal and natural.

I agree with that stuff

I don't envy the brain of a person who wants sexual reassignment or a sex change - they must have some very unsettled feelings about their gender and their view of themselves.

I do have a part of me that views them as freaks and is uncomfortable with their presence... but the larger and hopefully rational part of my brain is a lot more tolerant.

fundamentally how is this any different than those that want to lose a limb?
(other than no legit Drs will do the surgery)

obviously there is something not right
but it is nature or nurture?
