New over priced hollywood, mostly crappy product, you try to give an excuse for it when there is none.
You’ve misunderstood my posts entirely, those are not excuses, those are criticisms of the industry and the corporate greed that lead to this point

One huge factor is the cost of talent. “Stars” want star money…
Plus production costs have soared since “Jaws” was made. Equipment,
locations, expert crew, etc.
Give some talented newbies a chance, I watch a lot of indie now because the actors are good and invested, not in it because they are famous and for a big paycheck. They put in the effort.

Sounds like you just should’ve made a “I really like stargate” thread. Idk what you’re looking for here
I do love Stargate, to lighten the thread.
Even though it was the worst.

Wasn't Jaws massive over budget and expensive for it's time? I think the final budget was over 12 million, which adjusted for inflation is over 70 million today. Considering they cast lesser known actors at the time, seems reasonable to today's costs

that has nothing to do with the budget of the movie.
It was a high budget movie for the time. Thats not really debatable

The worst part about this from a crew standpoint is on my last couple of movies I made less than I’ve made in about ten years. So it’s definitely not going to labor costs. They waste so much fricking money on bullshite.

Yeah, it went way over budget. I think the original budget was like 3 million.
ETA: Way over for its time. Doesn’t seem like much now but if you could only offer Spielberg 3 million dollars then spending ten million is going way over budget.

It can still be done, they just have to want to do it.
Look at Godzilla Minus One. Phenomenal movie for $15 million. Hell, the CGI was better than some movies with 20x the budget.

A quality move could be made for $1M-$3M.
Honestly cheaper than that if youcknow what you're doibg and the story .makes sense.
Promotion could probably get expensive, but let a studio who buys it worry about that.

How could they have made movies like JAWS or series like Stargatae that still hold up today on a fraction of the money, but now can't make shi!t unless it costs 100X more?

Why did you make this thread if you're going to respond to reasonable responses like that?

You lose.
Ah. Didn't know the movie/tv board was generally geared for those who want to illustrate how much of a dick they can be. Thought that was reserved for the Poli/OT area.
To the others on here, is this usual? Someone starting a thread to show how much of an arse they are?
