quote:How is it not similar to Lost? You are kidding yourself if in the original production meetings LOST wasn't mentioned.
She's not supposed to be...I really wish the TN/Lost comparisons would stop. Aside from minimal similarities, they're not anywhere close to the same show IMO.
I can already see someone saying Lost but with dinosaurs.
We have two groups. One is trying to kill the leader of Terra Nova. They SPLIT from the original group.
They have some sinister unknown plan. Although I guess we don't know how sinister. Terra Nova could actually be the evil group.
But I don't see how you can't see similarities. And If EBC is the leader then yes, I will compare her to Linus and she is no Linus. For an ugly weasel looking guy, he still had a strange charisma. She doesn't. Yes, I know we haven't seen her much but I was intrigued by Linus from the get go.

I said there were similarities, but not many (that can't be chalked up to most shows).
There's jungle area. There's a "rogue" group. That's about it. I guess you could add in time travel, but they're not really similar at all...one was an island that bounced through time, the other is a time rip that allows people to escape doom in a future generation.
I understand the similarities, but IMO they aren't really connected much at all. If someone pitched this show as "Lost with dinosaurs," then there are likely some very pissed off producers right about now, because that's not what it's like at all. At least to me...I may be in the minority though.

Really too early too tell if it is a lost clone or not. At least thank the lord we aren't getting any flashbacks.
My point was Ben Linus had charisma and in the short time we saw EBC, she just annoyed me. Not necessarily fair given the brief time we have seen her, but I don't like her.
Heck, I don't like any of them. This really is just like SGU. I don't know a single characters name and I don't really want to learn them at this point.
Cast
1.Evil Avatar Guy
2.Jack Clone Cop
3.Doctor Chick
4.Annoying Kids, all lumped into one
5.Unattractive Soldier Chick
6.Soulja Boy
7.Others
8.Horny Doc
9.Stupid Redshirts.

I'd say the best line from this episode was when they talked about the guy who was eaten by the dinosaur.
Discussing the missing researcher with Elisabeth - "Found his boots." "He's out there barefoot?" "No - his feet were still in 'em!"

Exactly. Ben wasn't likeable at all the first half season he was on Lost...it wasn't until later when we saw what he knew and was capable of (and even some badassery here and there) when he became so awesome.

No, Whiney Bitch Son gets his own name. He's bad enough to warrant that.

anyone watch last night?
1 dinosaur? 1 little dinosaur? And it didn't even draw blood! The previews for the next episode(in 2 weeks) shows a little more dino interaction.
This show is getting too "soap opera-ish". Maybe that was the point all along? Maybe it's more about the humans getting along with other humans than it is about the struggle to survive amongst the dinosaurs?
1 thing I noticed is the "sixers" like to whack people in the head with their guns. If I were one of the Terra Nova people, every time i saw a sixer i'd whack em in the head before they got a chance to do it to me.
So now I guess the focus will be on what's in the "box"? Or will that be something they drag out and either reveal in the last episode or leave as a cliffhanger?

This show is going down the shitter.

I actually thought last night's episode was the best of the series so far. There wasn't really any dino action, which sucks, but I at least was interested last night and that counts for something.
Man, no shite. That happened at least three times last night...this show is huge on "movie cliche's" like that, but the "knock you out/screen goes black" thing is getting out of hand.
I'm assuming it will darg out at least for a little while. I do like the angle of Evil Black Chick saying that Captain Avatar pissed off the future people and is in for some shite. And I liked that they let Jim have the little brother...already showing us that the 6ers may not be complete assholes after all.
I dunno, this last episode has me more hopeful than any of the previous ones. Definitely need more dinos though, which the previews seem to promise...

Yeah, i just can't help feeling that the "sixers" are actually the good guys. I think they know shite that end the end will frick up captain avatar's world.
Oh, and they have a gun that will actually do some damage to a dinosaur !

I couldn't understand why Shannon didn't engage her more in this conversation. Here she was talking about the reason she and her group broke away from Terra Nova and Shannon just sat there as if he didn't find anything she had to say of very much interest.
How about asking her what specifically was the problem?

quote:Because then you couldn't drag it out 20 episodes. Just like Lost when they would never ask any questions about the odd things going on.

I haven't watched it yet. Keep forgetting when it is on but I will report back later.

well that was annoying as hell when insane things would happen and the idiots would go back to the beach and eat peanut butter with no discussion of what just happened. Hopefully they won't do that here but I am sure they will. It is a very lazy writing way to keep tension going from episode to episode. And.... it is similar in writing style to lost.

Last night the leader of the Sixers tells Shannon that Taylor is in trouble with people of influence in the future. But Shannon doesn't think to ask what precipitated the breakdown. When he returns to Terra Nova he doesn't say a word to Taylor about what he learned.
If you have a group of armed insurgents looking to do you harm and the reason why this is happening is right in front of you, wouldn't it be logical to ask for details?

Especially when your family is in the line of fire.

Exactly, the family angle is all the more reason for him to want to get to the root cause of the conflict. Also, Shannon is suppose to be a former investigator. That scene didn't play out consistent to his training.

I thought he asked her what it was about, but she was vague and didn't really want to answer it. Am I misremembering that scene?
Posted on 10/18/11 at 2:02 pm to CocomoLSU
I think he asked but he didn't try very hard. Maybe being on their turf may have had somethign to do with that?
When he got back to terra nova, he didn't push captain avatar for answers either. I'll just assume he's going to investigate on his own.
