Watching you guys get all worked up over your culture war like anything you say or do is gonna make one iota of a difference is pretty amusing.

A couple things. No one here is worked up. And second, and most importantly, clearly the fan reaction and lack of viewers made a difference and got the show canceled.

Could've achieved the same result of the show being canceled months ago if you just changed the channel.

Ru Pauls drag race is still on tv but I canceled it from my life before the first episode aired.

What’re you rambling about? I can’t even discern a point to mock you over.

You're still here? Does that mean your 72 virgins haven't shown up yet?

Do you think I’m a Muslim for some reason? I joined the army at 17 till 21 with a year in Iraq and a year in Afghanistan. I’ve sent many to meet their virgins but sadly haven’t gotten them myself yet.

I don’t get it. I spend 99% of my time on TD using my iPhone and just streamline my thoughts. I’ll usually go back and edit out spelling or grammar mistakes made in error typing fast.

Tyfys. It was a reference to the parade of women you mentioned waiting for you at the end of the culture war.

A pretty terrible one. The 72 virgins is associated with the religion of peace. The metaphorical women from my posts would be stolen from their husbands who would be made slaves to toil in the AI mines, ergo unlikely to be virgins.

But they are very similar in the fact that neither exist.

Don’t mention that if you happen to be in the UK. You’ll likely be thrown in jail for a few years for blasphemy.

Shows will continue to have gay people. Black people. Brown people. And no one will care just like we didn’t care before all of this. We won’t however have any ridiculous things like a black Ann Boleyn or fantasy shows with cold clearly Northern Europe inspiration have the diversity of modern day LA.

So no more Idris Elba as Heimdall? Cause I thought he did a really good job in the role.

Also to say people didn't care about blacks and gays on TV before is kinda funny. Like you do remember that kind of did piss people off back in the day. I mean Blaxploitation is a genre of film for a reason.

You took a partial quote out of what was a much longer post that provides context to that quote.

And no Idris in the MCU isn’t what I’m talking about and feels like a strawman. I was talking about real world historical figures and world building in fantasy.

I’m not overly familiar with what blaxploitation is, at least not enough to offer a comment on it. I do know that I lived through the 90s (albeit as a child) and the 2000s to sometime around 2015 happened and no one cared about films having those champions of diversity and marginalization today. I remember broke back mountain getting the tiniest amount of conservative Christian backlash and them being laughed out of the room. Rightfully

I haven’t watched it.

Was there a tranny in this? If so was character also tranny or did they hire a tranny to play a normal?

There wasn’t a tranny. At least not one outwardly appearing as such or acknowledged as such. There are a suspicious amount of gender ambiguous people, soy beta males one being the only white guy in the show as the other kills himself because white privilege or something, and a non binary beaver.

Oh I forgot before Sammy comes in with the “achktually” there’s another white guy. He spends the small amount of time he has in a wookie costume and is killed off screen. There’s also jediabetus whose white but the force itself couldn’t lift him 2 inches off the ground.

I feel I didn't take the quote out of context, I just included what I was replying to so you would know what I was referencing in my reply.

I used Heimdall as the example because when the movie came out there were a number of people (including here) who were upset at his casting so I feel it was relevant.

And Blaxploitation films were push back during the Civil Rights movement where many black directors wanted to push back against the idea that blacks could only be supporting roles, sidekicks, or criminals in film/TV. Basically if you were black you were typecast for what type of roles you could take.

Oh ok. Perhaps there was pushback to Idris. Is the character established as white incthe comics? Idk I am not a comic reader mostly outside of spider man. If so it’s probably true some complained as that is just off putting to some people. Did anyone complain after the movie? Because he was good in the role and that’s how these things tend to go from my observers perch. If you’re going to do a race swap you need to be prepared for push back that’s simply going to happen. If the movie is good and the actor is in the role 99.9% of people will not care after though and typically praise it.

As far as the 70s and all that, that was a decidedly different era in American life. So much so it almost cannot be compared to life today even though it’s not that long ago. I don’t think typecasting needs to be much of a concern for minorities outside of the extent they do it to themselves. I.e the argument only a gay person can play a gay character etc.

When was this again, when Urkel and Fresh Prince weren't popular, or when people were moving on up, to the east side, to a deluxe apartment, in the sky?
I wasn't even alive when Sanford and Son was on tv (top 10 highest rated sitcom from 72-76), but i watch it today and love it, you big dummy.

What the hell are you talking about here?
