I really hated this movie
The idea that in order to have a successful career you have to sacrifice any hope of having a family or if you choose family you’re stuck in some unfulfilling dead end job is nonsense.

A must rewatch for me each holiday season.

This doesn’t surprise me, as Nic Cage has a very impulsive personality.

The actor playing the guy in charge of Lassiter's company who Cage replaces does a great job portraying himself as a little bitch.
Saul Rubinek, hugely under rated actor IMO
Also in Unforgiven.
I watched The Family Man for the first time recently after reading this post on TD/Movie Board.
I really enjoyed it.
I Wish I had that.

I remember the trailer had the song once in a lifetime and fit the movie really well.. got me into the talking heads

It’s under appreciated for sure. My wife and I added it to our holiday rotation 5 or so years ago. I usually try to ship my kids off to my parents because I love the mood it puts my wife in.

I didn't see this movie until 10 years after i came out but it has been a Holiday season must watch. And you are right. It definitely hammers home as an adult.
I swear to god I first read this and thought, “Why the hell does it matter when you came out?”

Agreed. Underrated flick.
I was always amazed at how he managed to turn down the hot redhead who wanted his dick.

The acoustic version of Psycho Killer on Stop Making Sense is such a banger. Talking Heads are great.

Fantastic movie and cast. Great movie to watch when you need to ground yourself sometimes. “This suit makes me feel like a better man”.

I think we all would have considered it.

This … suit, car, women, office, penthouse suite, job title, prestige, power, etc. etc.
Begs the question: what should make us feel like better men?
The one thing his character had going for him in both worlds was he treated those around him with dignity and respect, and was willing to lend a helping hand. Once he understood that he could blend both lives, it all came into focus: you can be whatever you want to be in all facets of your life, and if you give love a chance then there’s more reward than you could ever imagine. True power.
