This talk reminds me of a question I had from the first episode.
Were the 3 bad guys (I think it was 3) in the opening shootout scene running from a zombie outbreak somewhere down the road? It's possible that they were actually the first 3 zombies in Rick's town and that the outbreak started there almost immediately after Rick was in the hospital.
I watched it again last night and noticed this too. the first guy that exits the car looks kind of fricked up, I mean he could have very well either been infected or the wreck just got him messed up. But the other 2 guys that got out of the vehicle looked OK. but still, I strongly believe this is in someway related to the outbreak.

Again, if I have a problem with the show, it's still that I don't understand why that band of survivors would camp out in the woods instead of finding rural/small town shelter. Staying out in the open like that is more risky IMO, and certainly less comfortable, farther away from supplies, etc.
I am sure they thought about that. You must assume that supplies in any urban are have been depleted. Remember what happens at Home Depot and the Grocery stores when a Hurricane is headed over here. Supplies run out. Certainly there was mass hysteria.

that's why they should raid empty houses where people have died.

I asked the admin on the help board after making the post and they gave me that reply. I hope it didn't offend anyone, either way I'll try to clean it up. I'm probably on double secret probation.

Check out Swan Song/Canticle for Leibowitz/Earth Abides, in that order, if you haven't.
Thanks. I'm always looking for something good to read in any genre. I'll definitely check these out. (here's hoping my small town library has one or more of them - otherwise my cheap arse self will have to viist the bookstore).

Pretty risky living in tents like that with these maneaters just lurking around.
It seems when people become zombiefied they keep lurking in the area they died. The wife on the porch, soldier in the tank, two zombies on the bus when he first road into town, sheriff zombing around the headquarters and such. If this is the case the farther away you get from civilization the safer you are, assuming the zombies stay in their immediate area. The survivors probably looted all the canned food and sporting goods stores for weapons, amo and Nike shoes, lol....and Heineken's. In post apocalyptic society people would have to live off the land so being in the woods is the right idea. Also when finding a mate, you can't go for the petite skinny ones. You would need a big husky girl who can help clear the land and plow the field. A woman who can handle herself against a zombie attack, not that scrawny wife of Sheriff Happy.
FWIW The best place for them to do is to syphon enough fuel to get your caravan of humans to the nearest fort. Like Fort Pike in the Rigolets. Someplace that is fairly remote (less zombie population) and provides strong protection and defense.
Also, what is the Magic Negro reference from.

I can see that, and also see your point about zombies staying close to where they died, although that may just be a plot device.
I want to know how big the town Rick is from is. They make it seem as though it's small enough to where everyone has to go to Atlanta for anything other than basic necessities, but it was big enough for the military to deem worthy of taking over?
Like I said, staying in the wilderness makes sense, but clearing a small town a little at a time and making it a stronghold also makes a lot of sense.

That's a good point.

He seems to play the black dude on shows and magically seems to just know shite, and know how to get shite done. Best example of this was on the show Jericho, but I believe he was on another show or two that fits this bill. But I know in the Jericho threads on here several years, that's what we called him.

Couple of finds looking through TWD on google news:
There is a TWD podcast that is an hour long and has been going on for months. Can't speak to the quality, downloaded some this morning and gonna check them out on the road today.
Also, the consensus seems to be October 2011 for season 2. That sucks.

Damn it
Hopefully A Game of Thrones is awesome enough to tide me over until then.

Sorry Scoop but that doesn't work for me. Your going to have to do better than that.

Like 24 did a few season back. Maybe a show on how the zombies came about. I know it's not in the comic, but the producers could have a little creative licence.

What I want to know is why didn't Rick try and drive that Tank? You could wipe out thousands of zombies by just driving over them.
Posted on 11/17/10 at 12:22 pm to LSUnowhas2
I was thinking the same thing. Find the damn start button or key and just try to drive the damn tank.

Has anyone tried the game Atlanta Run?
I can't find the fuel tank to start the generator to get the elevator going. Haven't met one walker yet.

I find husky girls tend to be out of shape, slower, weaker, less stamina etc. Therefore I would prefer a girl that looks like she could run a mile without slowing down or hop a fence with me really quick if need be. Just my opinion.
Are there really just 3 episodes left this season?!
