This guy thinks Snoke was never really there and was simply using a force projection. He also thinks Snoke will play a bigger role in episode 9

A lot of people, myself included, are upset that Snokes backstory wasn't revealed. Now old Rian has said that it was because the backstory wasn't relevant, blah blah blah. I think the real reason is this:
After episode 9, the next trilogy will be set in the Old Republic, thousands of years ago. I say this for several reasons.
1. It will become too stale to continue the "main story"
2. The actress that plays Rey apparently doesn't want to continue the role right after 9. Wants a break.
3. This will allow more flexibility.
SO my theory is theyy set the next trilogy thousands of years ago and it turns out that the hero or one of the supporting characters from that trilogy turns into Snoke.
didn't they outright say that the new trilogy wouldn't be set in the old republic? I can see them not saying it but outright denying is different. This wouldn't be something you want to debunk for the sake of surprise when everyone has wanted an Old Republic setting since the games.

Old Republic will be great

Yeah that is weird, but Star Wars movies are known for misdirection. I don’t think Snoke is alive, but with JJ coming back for 9 he may make an appearance.

The only way they can bring Snoke back is by having him able to transfer his consciousness to another body or a clone or some other bullshite.
There's a 70% chance he's coming back in Episode IX so get ready for a really unsatisfying explanation.
Making matters worse, they have to do it pretty early in the next movie. They can't have Kylo Ren try to carry the movie as the main antagonist and only have Snoke show up in the final ten minutes long enough to just get his arse kicked again.

Sith have transferred consciousness in the past, but it's very difficult and none have done it while separated at the hip. I think Snoke is gone for good.

We know JJ is willing to pander so I could see this

There was no buildup or tension. This wasn’t a sad movie or a dark movie. If he comes back, it will be the 2nd movie all over again and he’ll die. They can’t have him win because there isn’t a fourth movie.
This movie is basically just a placeholder. There is very little advancement to the story.
Nothing was gained or lost.

Umm Luke died? Snoke died?

Darth Maul was cut in half and they brought him back. Will we get a half robot Snoke in E9?
Posted on 12/20/17 at 9:25 am to Scruffy
All these Snoke theories; why couldn't he just be like Yoda and Obi Wan and always be there in Kylo's head? Seems pretty obvious or am I missing some Dark Sith Lord cannon?

quote:And? He had no purpose. His death was just getting rid of the character. It didn’t advance the story at all. At least Han’s death served a purpose in Kylo’s fall. Rey was already motivated and fighting. His death didn’t push her or impact Ren. He just faded.
Umm Luke died?
quote:Again, and?
Snoke died?
I guess an argument can be made that Luke’s death served a purpose, although I don’t see one, but Snoke was just thrown away.
He could be deleted entirely and the story would still be the exact same. The only thing he did was supposedly connect Rey and Ren and if you remove that, what changes?

No he must be able to heal himself
Hence the horrendous scarring like he’s been killed before

Big difference between a face melt and separated at the hip.

Be careful man. You're gonna cause everyone to be let down when there isn't any Snoke backstory in that next trilogy.

I mean, maybe they'll be doing to Snoke what they did to Palpatine in the Battlefront 2 game? I mean that was so completely random.

So, Snoke just chilled during all the other movies?
You'd just chill too, if you had a comfy gold lamé suit like Snoke.

Reanimated, resurrected, brought himself back...say it however you like.
Based on his physical appearance and lack of backstory, the most likely explanation is that he died a long long long long long long long time ago and somehow came back.
