But the thing is...there has truly never been anyone else for the other. They just weren't in a place where they could be happy together till now.
This. Everyone else came up short for Kevin because he was holding them to the Sophie standard in his heart/mind.

And now they are back together and its glorious and the show redeemed itself.

Finally, they've put Kevin and Sophie back together and they went about it in a very good way that makes perfect sense. They better not screw this up!!
I'm not sure I would go that far! We suffered through some horribly boring episodes to get here.
Rebecca's talking to Sophie as if she's still in her 20's and telling her Kevin would be ready in the future was key. It was like she was still in the past, but could see into the future. Interesting way to trigger Sophie into taking the leap.

Sophie & Kevin = Ross & Rachel.
It's just meant to be.

And next week is probably the Miguel dies episode.
I don't think they're gonna kill Miguel off. I think the hand tremors were just an indication that age is getting to him, too.

I really hope they don't kill him off. There is no reason to at this point in the game.

If you look at the episode descriptions, the week after Miguel says the Big three meet to discuss Rebecca's health care. Why wouldn't Miguel be included if he is still alive after next week's episode?

I hope you're right. If they do, it will be disappointing and, I agree, not necessary.

I missed last night's episode and just watched it on Hulu, I'm not crying, you're crying.
When they showed Kevin putting Sophie's name on his Valentine as Sophie was being introduced as the new student, I lost it. He's loved her literally since the first time he laid eyes on her. And my wife called me a "wuss."

also the part in that episode when he is in the front yard crying to get his dads necklace back from his one night stand was awesome.
That episode is top 2 IMO with this one.

Really enjoyed this episode.
As I have said this show needs to put some joy in these characters lives. EVERYTHING can’t be bittersweet.
If they kill Miguel this will essentially be a “snuff” series. Totally unnecessary to kick a barely lucid Rebecca in the gut by killing her second husband suddenly. Like killing Randall’s wife in a Philadelphia drive by. Or one of Kate or Kevin’s kids falling in a pool.

Excellent episode. I love how they showed the night from Kevin's perspective after first (in the previous episode) showing it from Beth and Madison's sleuthing perspective.
The more time Kevin and Sophie spent together that afternoon, the more they dropped the walls of protection and opened up to each other, showing who they REALLY are now. The conversation in the convenience store about Kevin's charity and Sophie's nursing work was them delicately showing each other their new, kinder, more caring, selfless sides.
Then there was the flood of passion that they had both been holding back for so long.
But Sophie was right, they needed to stop, and get past the lust part of love. And then, with clear heads, realize that the Agape love they always needed to cement their relationship, was finally there.
Kevin's story has been the best so far.
The big disappointment has been Randall's story. It almost seems that this season the writers have lost all clue how to write him. He's displaying characteristics that are not at all who he has been shown to be all series.
That speech at the reception, what the frick was that?
And the wife and I are both on the "they damn well better not kill Miguel" team. The guy has been nothing but a saint this whole time.
4 episodes left.

I'd offer that Randall's foibles have been there all along, but the writers gave us the softer versions of them, to ease the audience into his flaws. To be sure however, he's a bit of a controlling mess. I love his and Beth's banter, but you can get by on charm for about 15 minutes. After that, you better know something.

I don't know about that Vox. He's always been written as a super smart, awkward goofball guy with a big heart and a certain inherent wisdom. He's written as an "old soul".
The way he and Becca bonded, especially after Jack died, is a good example of that.
This season he's seemed to be clueless, rash, and tone deaf. Well, except for his superbowl t shirt speech to Kevin.
I'm just glad we seem to be past all the Kate episodes.
And as others have said, try as they might, the writers can't stir up a HINT of chemistry between Kate and her new husband. With Toby, you could see it.
This guy, nope.
AND, I think he's the same actor that was on a season of A Million Little Things. He sucked on that show too. So maybe he's just a shitty actor.

Instead of inherent wisdom, I see the obsessive need to control everything around him and the constant need to fix it all.
Maybe he's transferred that control and need to fix it to his new job as Senator? There's a lot to fix there.
I see it as he has been so caught up in the whole politics thing that he's drifted away. It caught him off guard and now he doesn't exactly know what to do with that and especially Rebecca and Miguel.
The scene with Randall and Kevin was really nice. I've seen lots of folks say they looked up the Buffalo team records, etc. I didn't have to look it up. I remember!
Kate just needs to stay off my screen. I have zero interest in anything about she and Phillip.
IMHO, they screwed up with adopting Haley just so they could have the 2nd Big 3. It was too much and not even close to realistic.

I really enjoyed the way they wrapped up the love aspect of Kevin’s story. Perfect. Do we still think there will be more to his career angle or is he content with cashing checks from the Manny reboot? I’m still surprised him saving that guy never gave him a career boost. They did a good job enough this week that if they land the Migel story line they could barely salvage the final season.

As a matter of fact, if you go back and watch the uncut cabin flash forward, there's a trophy case by the front door when Kevin gets there. It has some kind of award(s) in it.

Yes. He was also Hailey's BF for a season of Modern Family. He's a pretty good comedic actor, IMO, but nobody in the history of ever is believing that he'd fall in love with that cetacean monstrosity.
