I hope it wasn’t long before her, but I think I’m wrong.

I watched the episode again. I haven’t done that since season 2.

I’m still ticked that off. Didn’t cry because I’m mad. I still don’t think it was necessary.

Yes. I am still mad. But they told the story well. As mentioned. Jack was older than Rebecca and Miguel is always portrayed as the same age.

Nice to see the flashback to kevin being an alcoholic dick. After a decade of misery or more your mother is finally happy. And you piss all over it and storm out. Hey dipshit! Your mom is Mandy Moore. After about a year of time allowed that woman IRL would have had a parade of divorced men at least trying to take their shot.

The last 3 episodes might become Kate heavy with the kids fighting over who gets Mom. I will watch but I will reserve the right to make smug comments.

I don't understand why they're teasing the fight over whether or not to move her from the house Kevin had built. She's clearly there at the end.

You're going to move a dementia patient across the country just because it's convenient for you?

Exactly. She's had her latest YEARS of routine, physical therapy, meds, etc. there at the house that was intended FOR her all along. Why on earth would any writers think we'd believe they'd move her from that home now that Miguel is dead? Anyone that had dealt with an Alzheimer's parent KNOWS that you DO NOT F with their routine.

I have 1 issue with the episode.

IMO they didn’t age Kevin Randall and Kate enough.

When they are all at the tree, when Kevin goes to visit Miguel’s son, Christmas Jenga, and when they spread the ashes they all look the exact same age as they were when they were 40.

How old do we think they all were when Miguel died?

Kate and Limey got engaged about a year and a half after she and Toby got divorced, IIRC

Another good episode tonight.

Glad they didn’t move her to philly or LA. Both would have been against her wishes. Both dumb ideas too. Nice to see Kevin and his clan step up like that.

Randall has the most sour look when it wasn’t gonna go his way and he couldn’t take charge

I’m glad Kate stood up and made her decision and Kevin being the finally mature adult and doing what he needed to do

Also, Sophie.. on top of being beautiful, she has the most soothing voice, I would love to listen to audiobooks with her narrating .

Another good episode.

As much as I despise Kate she really stepped up to Randall and Kevin.

They all made the right decision.

And major props to Mandy Moore. She's been a really good actress through the whole show.

They did. I don't think Kate would have done it without the phone call from Toby.

The whole episode was beautifully done. So sad to watch the child turn into the parent. It was really rough for me since my parents (all 4 of them...divorced and remarried since I was a kid) are in their 80s. I've noticed a big decline in the last year and one of them has dementia as well. Me =

They are really sticking the landing so far. I was a bit irritated that they killed Migel off so early on but now it makes sense. Kevin stepping us as the primary care giver really closed out his arc of becoming his dad. Migel needed to be gone for him to show just how responsible he has become. Kevin's redemption has been awesome. I hated him the first couple of seasons and now I am way more invested in him than anybody else.

I cried like a baby. Lost my mom a few years ago in her mid-50s to cancer. I couldn't handle her during hospice so was so greatful her sister and sister in-law could. The whole thing was just too much. I am very glad Toby and Kate have a good relationship still. Things are really wrapping up nicely.

Scared for next weeks episode since Mandy Moore said she threw up after filming because it's so hard.

Good episode. I'm still miffed that they killed off Miguel. They could have worked this all pretty much the same way with him in the mix and also being taken care of to the extent needed. Rebecca would still have the security of him being present.

I agree that Kate's conversation with Toby was helpful and I'm glad she agreed to let Kevin step up to the plate. Last thing Rebecca needs is to be moved from her surroundings.

Randall needs to get a grip. He cannot run things in the family. He was not the right person for the job. Also, mothers like having daughters around when they are sick. It's not that they love them more. It's just a natural thing assuming the daughters are responsible level headed people.

Fact.

But Rebecca did treat him differently.

I initially felt like that but I definitely think Kevin would not have had to step up the extent he did with Migel in the picture. That was important for his redemption arc. They certainly could have kept Migel in the picture a bit longer and still pulled it off. But I think I have made peace with it at this point.

And it didn't do him any favors as a result.

Kate & especially Kevin are absolutely stepping up when it comes to their mother. Just like they aren't shiftless slackers like they were when they were teenagers, Randall isn't who he was at that age, either. The problem comes in when you consider that Randall's changes have NOT been for the better. Kate's and Kevin's have.

After seeing the preview for next week's episode, I think they killed off Miguel at the right time. Last night's episode was handling which family member is taking over which is a big conversation. Next week looks like all of the family members are saying their goodbyes, and then (my prediction) the finale will be Rebecca passing away and I think we will see spreading of ashes and a final gathering of Rebecca, Jack, and Miguel on the other side.

Honestly, the last 2 or 3 seasons have been subpar, especially last season but we are seeing a marvelous ending to one of the most realistic cradle to grave shows about life and family that I can remember.

Alexandria Breckenridge wasn't wearing a lot of makeup last night, you could tell. And she was still a fricking knockout!

She's gorgeous.

Beth is the most grounded person on the show. And the best character. Change my mind.

And Mandy Moore deserves an Emmy for this season.

And they have wasted Milo Ventimiglia this season.
