For me it was the whole build up to it not being purgatory when it clearly was that was annoying because people figured it out.
So for this, I'm hoping it just is what it is. Everyone shows up for Rebecca and then life moves on. I don't want there to be this huge build up that leaves us with questions. Just wrap it up, put a bow on it and call it a day.

I’m sorry, I don’t see any way the Limey would marry Kate. I’m sorry, she is just too big.

Right
A slump buster to tell nobody about sure but not marry .
Both their marriages are on the rocks/over

This episode is prime “everyone hates Kate”

Toby should have told her about the job offer, but other than that he went all the way in trying to make things work and obviously talked non stop about Kate and his family at work.
I thought they would try to get us to feel sorry for Kate, but I think this would push people on the fence the other way.

He definitely should've been more transparent with her about the LA offer; how he felt in SF, finally being fulfilled in his job, his role, etc. But flat out turning down the LA gig, and practically putting in an offer on that house he wanted - that's a bit much.
Unfortunately, every version of Kate is loathsome.
Nrlext week, it looks like Randall is going to be so consumed trying to be Jack Pearson 2.0 that he's driving his kids away

Yes, he went about it all the wrong way.
I don't think anyone would be happy with their spouse in that situation.
Kate also was in the wrong turning down the day Toby planned for them too. I thought that was super rude.

I don't know if it was their intent from the start, but with the way the Kate character is written and acted I don't know who's left to pass as the biggest piece of shite woman in TV history. Peggy Hill and Jill Taylor have been lapped at this point, and that's with Kate's fat arse running the lap.

What I find funny is she seems to do really well with kids and isn't a miserable bitch at her job, so it must just be her family she doesn't like. Which is weird, I just don't get it.

I don't think Toby was totally off-base with his comment that she loves her life now that he's not around all the time.

I think it stems back more to her comment in the pool in the flashback. She doesn't know what she wants to do. So she found something that does make her happy and he just wants her to up and move to SF and drop everything. Not thinking that maybe for the first time in her life she found something fulfilling as well.
They both have changed since they got married and are just going in different directions that make them happy. But still want to be a family. I'm sure that's not all that uncommon IRL.
Still hate Kate though, just my opinion.

True enough. I think they'll dedicate a scene where she goes to LA to be Kevin's assistant. His throwing her a bone probably saved her life, because she did that until he left The Manny, if you recall her role in his career per the pilot.

Id say that may be the most depressing episode of the series.
Think I’m gonna skip watching rest of the episodes.

I’m glad you mentioned that.. I had totally forgotten and wondered she was doing for that long period of adulthood to the pilot episode .
I’m glad Toby finally went after Kate after the party and said what needed to be said .
Also looking at the ratings, it seems everyone is getting Pearson fatigue as the ratings are the lowest of the entire show. Now sure how much that has to deal with people streaming, probably a lot.
But this thing is limping to the finish and we are halfway done with the final season

Killing Eve is whimpering along as it gets ready to wrap for good this season too.

"Limping" is a kind word. It's like slow motion every week.
Toby messed up not telling her about the job offer. Hard to defend that in addition to looking at houses without talking with her first. His intentions were good, but his method was poor.
Wasn't it Kate who asked that they spend a weekend together without the kids in SF? Have to give her credit for that. Toby tried to set up a great weekend, but Kate didn't care for the plans and work interrupted them quite a bit.
At this point, I'm not nearly as emotionally invested in the show as I was in the beginning, so I don't care all that much about whether they stay together or don't or whose fault that may be. Toby is more likable than Kate, so far.

Kate being the most unlikable character on TV since Skylar White and Joffrey Baratheon might have something to do with that.

I don't think he's Jack 2.0. I think Randall's personality is to be in control. As his kids grow up, you just can't control them. It's darn near impossible to control a 16-17 year old. You can try, but they will find a way to do things and escape your control. The more you try, quite often, the worse it is. Jack was many things, but I don't think he was controlling.

I think what we are supposed to see in Kate is how she's had no growth. She's never learned to be a grown up on her own. She was daddy's little girl who would never let go. She was the girl who always said I can't instead of I can. Kevin, Randall, and Rebecca have grown. Toby has grown. Instead, for all these years, Kate has been miserable. She's been stuck. She's someone whose only dream was singing and she never had the confidence to do that. She even says to her brothers that she doesn't have a clue what she wants. She struggled with that for the next 20 years! For all these years she's not been able to be alone. She has to have Kevin or Rebecca to deal with things. She is weak.
Toby was VERY wrong in some of the things he did. But he wasn't wrong in his personal growth. Toby could see the family they could become if Kate would just pick up her feet and move and stop staying in one place.
I think Kate is just now beginning to realize that she can grow at all. It's kind of sad that it's so late in the show. I feel like we should have seen this last season and been able to watch her become a more confident person with a purpose instead of the miserable person she's been all along. Maybe we would have like actually seeing her journey of growth. It would have been better TV.
I did really like this episode. It might have been Kate's best episode as you finally see the feeling they both have and see how there is no hope for the 2 of them.

We just haven’t gotten the payoff with Kates character like we have with everyone else. I also think they haven’t done as good a job making us feel bad for her like they have with everyone else. The storyline with her and Mark and a little with her dad were the only remotely interesting parts. Everything in the present has been brutal
