Looks like a good watch on Disney+.
This looks more like a serious version of Suicide Squad
That was my thought exactly. Second Suicide Squad was great. This one feels like a lesser imitation. Somewhere between Suicide Squad I and II.

Imagine if they had passed the mantle of Cap down to Bucky and this film had been his team-building movie (and they had skipped a lot of the, frankly, shite films and shows since).
Just imagine that...

I really like the vibe and tone of this. More grounded stories involving geopolitics and political espionage are good when Marvel does them right imo. Not every movie has to have universal stakes hanging in the balance.
Using “where is my mind?” in this trailer was perfect considering they are bringing in the Sentry’s crazy, schizophrenic arse

More details on the plot and spoilers for those into that sort of thing
quote:
Yelena, US Agent, Ghost, Taskmaster, Bucky and Red Guardian, all previously villains/anti-heroes in the MCU, have been trying to find new purpose in their lives as they feel aimless and drifting.
The first 4 are currently doing contract work as assassins for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine and are all sent separately in a secret mission at a vault in the middle of the desert.
There, they stumble into each other for the first time, but they also stumble into another: a man in a hospital gown who had been trapped in the vault called Bob.
Before they can realise what's going on, the lights go out and an ominous 1-minute countdown starts. As they escape, they realise this was a trap and that someone must want them all dead. They also save Bob from the vault and they all go on the run while henchmen from an organisation called OXE are after them.
What they'll soon learn is that OXE is owned by Valentina herself (who is revealed to be the infamous buyer of the Avengers tower, the building where she now lives) and Bob was part of an off-the-books experimentation she was running to create a super-soldier. But she's the least of their problems as Bob aka The Sentry, has a darker and uncontrollable alternate personality, The Void, which is slowly starting to come out.
Yelena eventually calls Red Guardian for backup and he joins this newly founded team. Bucky on the other hand is now a congressman, but will also join the team in the third act of the movie and the 6 misfits who will be known as Thunderbolts (named after Yelena's elementary school soccer team) will band together and find their purpose again as they'll have to stop the volatile Void and take revenge against Val.

Seems like it is getting well received. Still pretty bland. In my opinion. Discount black widow is looking for work? Pretty on the nose for Disney Marvel. And David Harbour? The guy should feel perfectly at home playing a Soviet Russian (communist) superhero.

My M/TV hill I will die on is that I think it is incredibly stupid to want the sleeper Nazi agent as Captain America over the veteran that volunteers at the VA.
I put that on the same level as people who want Jason Todd as Batman over Dick Grayson. Just no.

I don't know man. I'm kinda sick of the trope of the straight white man always being the dumbass. Every sitcom, commercial, and movie follows this same shite.
I get what you're saying, but also, it's comedy. It happens so much because it works. I've heard plenty of people say women aren't funny. The trope just wouldn't land as well with a woman doing the role.

A better question is, where's the dumb, bumbling, buffoon character played by a woman?
How do you land a dumb bumbling female character that is also somehow an effective superhero.
Guys you just make them super strong. Narratively speaking, idk who wants big dumb impossibly strong female character.
I wouldn't mind them for…
other reason.

This looks much better than the earlier stuff that was released. I’m in so far.

This is the dumbest "trap" i have ever heard of. Why wouldn't she just contract them individually to a remote location without one of her secret labs and kill them one by one?

My only question is I know Bob is supposed to be Sentry. I don't know a whole lot about his character, but I do know that he is supposed to be Marvel Superman. How do they handle a character of such immense power in a movie that's supposedly very grounded with street-level characters.
He has mental issues. If they're following the lore even half-assedly then he doesn't remember that he has those amazing poewers.

hopefully better than the comics - cause they fricked him up royally in the comics and never used him. basically made to give DC the middle finger, but had no real plan on how to handle him.

Or else you might actually not watch Disney when you say you won't?

I assume this is based off of some comics?
Maybe just the overall basis of the team and the name of the movie. Doesn't seem very similar otherwise.

I honestly think they missed an obvious opportunity to use Henry Cavill here.

Not giving my money to any of those hard left doosh bags. I’ll pay Disney to do it.
