I figured out the killer when Sookie was in Bunkie and the brother/sister thing was revealed.
It wasn't rocket science once it was revealed that the killer was going to be someone who had moved to Bon Temps in recent years.
The three characters who were outsiders were Bill, Sam and Rene. Sam and Bill were out so there ya go.

Oh, and I finally figured out about the house that was burned down to kill the vampire nest.
That house was a historic building. An old brothel from Shreveport's old red light district. There was a big stink over burning it between Dr. Gary Joiner from LSUS and Mayor Glover.

Season Two will be interesting since the second book all takes place over a few days. I'm wondering if they will skip the second book or combine it with the 3rd.
