Random Thoughts/Speculation:
1. Alan Ball is pretty straight forward in his story writing. This is not a mind frick. Everything he writes he foreshadows. There may not be continuity, but nothing comes completely out of the blue.
2. Only Jason could f*ck his best friend's girl yet still make you kind of feel sorry for him/root for him. It takes a lot of chops for an actor to play someone that earnestly simple. (also, he's australian). And finally. FINALLY. we get to see Jessica totally naked.
3. Thank god we didn't have to watch a bill/eric/sookie three way.
4. the look that terry shared with his own sergeant was one of fear and confusion. Rene' referenced the "ghost" in terry's past. it was halloween, the day that the line between the worlds is blurred the most. this is no spoiler bc I don't know, but i'm certain that terry's friend is a villain next season, and almost certain that he actually is dead. "Your husband saved my life twice".
5. Sad to see Tommy die this season. I thought the actor did a good job. Ditto with Marcus.
6. Storylines I could not give two fricks about: sam and his shapeshifter gf/daughter, anything involving alcide, laffy and his bf, tara in any way, andy and his v addiction, terry and arlene.

Terry did say "I heard you were dead." Maybe he is...

this is definitely how they're setting this up.
His response "I heard you were crazy". Terry has been the sane stable one for a couple of seasons. Expect a battle between the good looking, charismatic seeming sergeant and terry. I foresee the sergeant having to do with Terry's going crazy (which was touched on in the episodes with Andy), and the sergeant driving a wedge between Terry and Arlene (who is wary of him bc of Rene's warning).
there are only a few things I'm truly good at in life, reading/movie comp is one of them.
too bad tv show speculation isn't a profession.

Well, give Jason credit for resisting Jessica on at least three occasions before he finally gave in. Also, Jason told Hoyt it was a bad idea for him to bring Jessica her stuff back, but Hoyt laid a guilt-trip on him to get him to do it anyway. And when he did finally give in to Jessica, he confessed to hoyt and took his arse whippin' like a man. At least Jason has a conscious, unlike Jessica who doesn't give a frick about anybody but herself.

What do you mean? Wasn't it day time when the sergeant walked into Merlotte's?

Sooooo.......3/4 of the show?

I have never hid behind anything. There aren't that many female posters from my year left and I think that is because I am not a fake or phony.
back to TB: Terry's friend walked in just as Sookie was lighting candles in the pumpkins so it was like sunset - I thought. Can Zombies walk around like normal people? Also, Rev Newlin didn't have a pale complexion like a vamp. What if he's been in hiding and decided to show up at Jason's house acting like a vamp bc it's halloween?

those were pretty convincing drop down fangs if that is the case..and yeah, it was at least dusk if it wasnt already nighttime. I think right after that scene they cut to Sookie outside wth the woman dressed as a fairy (forget her name at the moment) and it was definitely nighttime.

yeah, the show needs a male character that tries to do the right thing without a lot of self interest involved.
eric and bill are completely involved in themselves, and sam has been moved to an outlying character. alcide is this shows male moral compass.

I love Alcide
.
And it does make me sad that Sam is an "outlying" character now. I really liked how he interacted with Sookie and the vamps more in Seasons 1 and 2, especially when the Maryanne crap went down. Since then his story was subjected to the white trash family that they finally killed off and is heading down the right path again with Luna and the wolves (probably heading toward a shifter wolf war like in the books).

I like Alcide too, but my interest in him is how he relates to Sookie and the vamps, not his fricked up home life. Classic martyr story with him and his addict wife. Saw it coming a mile away.
The whole strong, honest simple archetype is boring too. I'm not saying why I can't see the attraction for you ladies though. I like him just fine. His story is boring though.
basically. I think the strength of the story is sookie's love triangle, vampire adjustment into the real world, and now the new political machinations. Also, Jason's random love affairs are always amusing. It'll be curious to see how it'll be when they have him involved with a major character.
