Propaganda doesn’t make for appealing escapism. Hollywood has been being warned for a decade this was gonna happen, it’s too bad the theatre's will suffer the most.

I actually looked into this it seems it's in part due to the rise of streaming as well as studios realizing these movies don't do great overseas. American humour doesn't translate well to audiences in say southeast Asia.

frick that
Honestly more and more of these current teenagers are yearning for physical media and actual experiences like going to the movies. They really need to bring back the irreverent teenage comedy.

In reality DEI and alphabet politics is what doesn’t translate to those markets.

I'm sorry but the data just doesn't bear this out.

No your paranoid version of reality isn't the problem here. Even movies like Superbad and The Hangover made a majority of their money domesticly. Studios seem to be more focused on making the majority from the international markets hence a part of why comedy movies have become so much more rare

I've been out of the theater game for 7-8 years as I had little kids, but now that the oldest is old enough to sit through a feature length film and enjoys them, we've gone a couple of times in the past few months. That shite is way more expensive than it should be. $25 for a ticket*!
I'm not that old. Only 40. I don't want to be that guy that says "back in my day they cost a nickel," but movie tickets have basically doubled inflation, so essentially 4x over the same time period. I get the feedback loop. Less people are going to the movies, so ticket prices have to adjust to offset that, but Hollywood really needs to ask itself why so few people are going. I think they shoulder some blame (shitty movies), but I think general societal changes are also to blame. So how do you balance that?
Socially, people just don't hang out as much. When I was a teen, we were at the theater or music shows every weekend. Kids don't do that anymore. I hope that changes. Kids need to be more social in a the same physical space. And for people my age, we have cheap tech (tvs, sound, streaming, etc) at home that allows us to experience decent quality at a fraction of the price it used to cost.
As for movies in the theater that interest me, they are few and far between. Just looking at movies playing this week, there isn't a single one I'd be willing to pay $25 for. It's Christmas, which used to be a huge box office time, and it's got nothing of interest. There's maybe one movie that in the before-time would have been a "Eh, I'll rent it when it comes out" kind of movie.
*Concessions have always been a racket, so I can't knock that too much.

You’re incapable of acknowledging reality even now, after being wrong for a decade straight.

Yeah spout you usually narrative void of any substance. Don't worry the gays and blacks aren't going to hurt you

Another false and ironic statement, I’ve missed on one movie in my entire time on this board which was Godzilla vs Kong a new empire because I actually pay attention to the reality and trends which are undeniable to anyone who isn’t shilling based on indoctrination. Now that the state of Hollywood is unavoidable you’re using the same reaction which is pure cope and totally irrelevant to the real problems.

I guess I’m just living in a big anecdote. Maybe my kids and all their friends are just privileged or something. But they buy CDs/vinyl, want to go to the mall here in palm beach county, go to the movies, etc.
These kids have grown up in digital world and are pushing for the opposite in a lot of ways.

My son is coming around too. He's really into records right now

You keep accusing me of what you do but the one problem you’ll continue to run into is that I’m right next to 100% of the time and you’re wrong almost 100% of the time.

That's great. However, that's definitely an anecdote. The reason being: there are fewer than 700 malls left in the United States as of 2022 and estimates that there maybe as few as 10 left in the United States by 2032.

It's particularly harmful for kids/teenagers as well. They really don't have the Mall anymore, especially if you live in an area where they're restricting the age of who can be there without an adult. A lot of places won't hire teens (the movie theater was a guarantee of a job when I was a teen).
The movie theater growing up was somewhere I could go with my friends that wasn't terribly expensive (we had the $1 movies) and that was safe for us to go to without an adult present.
It's another thing under cutting spaces where developing kids can learn to be safely independent. And to not be stuck on their phone/internet 24/7.
You're correct here, but there is another factor at play with the decline of these places for teenagers. It's who's showing up at night.
Let's just say my experience seeing an evening movie at the Village at Sandhill (outdoor mall/outdoor shopping area in Columbia, SC) versus doing so here is....stark to say the least. If I was a parent, I wouldn't want my kids anywhere near there at night. For any reason. And that's the supposedly nicest such place in the Columbia area.
Now Boise Town Square (traditional mall) or Meridian Crossroads (outdoor mall) here? Any time. Always clean, always safe, always full of families, even at night.

Agreed. I only bring my children to movies produced by The Daily Wire’s studio. No WOKE trash coming from Ben Shapiro.

No shot in hell. There will be that many in SE/SW Florida alone. They’re building many NEW multi purpose shopping and entertainment centers all over especially on the west coast. I consider any outdoor mall with movies, Dave and busters, pop stroke, and all the same retail a mall regardless of if you’re walking inside or on a sidewalk outside between stores.

I highly doubt that. The "traditional" indoor mall here is still extremely busy, no matter the season.
The outdoor "lifestyle center" type mall is even busier.
