Didn't watch the documentary, but pretty sure Daly let them lose the first game to make a point, then after a few actual practices, they played a rematch and the DT beat them by 50 or something.

My take from the doc is that he wanted them to see that they couldn't just show up and expect to win. The Select Team would've been good enough to beat the Russians or to at least medal. With the excitement level of the Select Team being through the roof, and the Dream Team just getting together and feeling each other out and worrying about each other's egos, that first day was the Select Team's best shot and Daly let it play out as long as he safely could.

And, of course, as soon as the Hall of Famers got the message and got coached, they went to town on the college kids.

And while the members of the Dream Team seem magnanimous to a point about the legend and the Select Team getting to hold on to their "win", Krzyzewski is still a weasel about it.

To me that's inarguable that it was a legit loss.

Agreed.

The best was Mashburn saying that after that first day Jordan told Allan Houston he wouldn't get the ball above his shoulders, and Mashburn said AH literally never was even able to lift the ball to shoot it because Jordan was up his arse defensively.

Pro athletes are just on another level.

"And that was the first time I realized just how good Michael Jordan was."

Can’t believe they made a doc on this.
