To the people that think MG is attractive, you do realize that when you see her on screen that is the most attractive she will ever be, right? There is always a drop off from movie hotness to real life hotness. And even in her movie hotness, she looks like this

My buddy was wanting to see a pitcure of a girl I liked not to long ago. So I showed it to him and his response was "Dang she looks like Maggie Gylenhall." He apparantly thought that was a complement. I shortly after lost interest in her.

The MG argument is a tired one. Lots of people think she's dog ugly and some think she's hot. I personally don't think she's cute at all, but it didn't take away from me liking TDK. Sure Joker made a comment about her "beauty" and I giggled a little bit, but after that, no big deal.
Keanu Reeves was great in Matrix, Bill and Ted, and Parenthood. And I loved Point Break. I am an F B I Agent!!!

Kirten Dunst isnt the greatest MJ, but even worse Jessica Alba as the Invisible Woman in the Fantastic Four movies. Just doesnt look right in that role.
you see that's exactly what i'm talking about with the gyllenhaal thing.
Sue Storm isn't supposed to be someone as exotically beautiful and bombshell as Alba. She was a scientist. She's supposed to be american blonde pretty, more like kristen bell.
i think that's the risk that Nolan avoided with Gyllenhaal in TDK.

but affleck was the bomb in "phantoms" yo.
agree with costner in robin hood.
also portman in the later star wars prequels but only because she was too good to be in those.
having her read that dialogue is like watching a ferrari drive thru a school zone.

I actually like Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes better, but to each his own.

I have to second Sofia Coppola in Godfather III--her father helped ruin his own legacy by casting her as Michael Corleone's daughter after Winona Ryder backed out.
Aside from her dreadful acting (evidently she CAN direct...) I thought it was a better movie than most give it credit for--good ending for Michael's character to die old and alone after leading to the death of his own daughter.

i like katie holmes. but i don't think she had the gravitas to pull off what rachel was dealing with in tdk.

A few more:
The World is Not Enough
Denise Richards as Dr. Christmas Jones: a nuclear physicist assisting Bond in his mission.[3] The name follows in the tradition of other Bond girls' names that are double entendres.[4] Richards stated that she liked the role because it was "brainy", "athletic", and had "depth of character, in contrast to Bond girls from previous decades"[5], however critics did not think she was credible in the role.
X-Men
Anna Paquin as Rogue. Rogue is supposed to be tough and hot. Anna is not and not.

sort of agree.... I think she looked the part... but this one may have to go towards the bad writing.. not acting...

To be fair, they cast all of them 10 years ago for a Chris Columbus movie. All of the kids were fairly amazingly great choices given the circumstances.

Katie Holmes acts on par with Maggie in my opinion, and is WAY hotter. You just have to get past the vision of her and Tom Cruise making the beast with two backs whilst suspended above a throng of chanting scientology zealots who fling anchovie's at their naked bodies and sing Puff the Magic Dragon in operetic fallsetto..... <shudder>
