Of all the lauded Vietnam war films, Platoon is by far my least favorite.
Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, and the Deer Hunter are significantly better than Platoon.
Good Morning Vietnam and Jacob's Ladder aren't really war films, but I thought both of those were better, too.
Getting back to the topic, this is the worst war movie I have ever seen
I think I was 10 or 11 when I saw it.

You have horrendous taste in movies. Thin Red Line would actually rank as one of my favorites. The movie actually has *gasp* depth.
The worst I can think of is Windtalkers and Pearl Harbor, with Windtalkers taking the prize. As gay, off-topic, and poorly acted as Pearl Harbor was, Windtalkers was laughably bad.
I just ordered "The Big Red One: Reconstruction" on DVD and am anticipating its arrival. I heard it gives the movie a whole new feel to it. I'll report back with how it compares to the original.

i've actually never seen it, just trying to go against the grain. it's on my on demand list right now though. i'm gonna try to watch it within the next week
Should really watch Platoon. Great movie and probably Charlie Sheen's best acting ever. (if that means anything

Soldier Boyz, the movie where the gangster holds his rifle sideways to shoot at someone a la Menace II Society.

Thin Red Line
Windtalkers
Battle of the Bulge (possibly the most historically inaccurate film ever made)
Pearl Harbor

If you mean depth as in...a never ending abyss of boring meaningless narrative dialogue while at the same time attempting to make one feel enlightned by the glistening of a tree leaf or a bird in the tree or the sounds of the forest for 3 goddamn hours, then yes it had depth.
I get what the filmmakers where trying to do, and just because someone dosent like "the thin red line" dosent mean they have a horrendous taste in movies. It seems any movie that Terrance Mellick or however you spell his name is slow and drawn out to no end...see "The New World" for more evidence.

Agreed. Some people mistake pretentiousness for "depth". This is a classic case of that. TRL was horribly pretentious.

Windtalkers was pretty bad.
I've never seen this, but Tank Girl has to rank up there.

I couldn't agree more this movie was so crappy, confusing and awful I left the theater mad. So many cameos it was distracting. Just absolute garbage.

I'm wondering if the people who post Thin Red Line have ever seen Windtalkers? B/c that movie is so bad it becomes a comedy.

I would pick Thin Red Line.
Honorable mention to Hart's War, Windtalkers.
Please can we excuse In the Army Now from this list? It is a comedy and not meant to be a war epic.
Since we are on war movies and because I don't want to start another thread-the scene where the German soldier is clicking his lighter but the American thinks it is the cricket clicker sound, is that from "The Longest Day"?
