a bit pricey, but looks cool as anything.
All my friends will call it the Doosh Guitar if I get one

Great guitars in all gradable categories. They take some heat from the tire-kickers and corksniffers not that their guitars are pricey, but that their guitars are pricey for not being made in Germany, in contrast to the image and branding they put out publicly. I've heard ghost-built in Korea, ghost-built in Croatia, Czech Republic, even Italy. I guess it depends on the guitar's age/era and which factory(ies) came in low bidder.

I went D'Angelico for my Art Deco guitar and I love it. It too passes ever gradable category.

That's a beauty. Fantastic color.
Have you tricked it out at all?

I think Croatia is correct.

Mike Campbell plays one and he could have any guitar on the planet

I like to buy American but when I buy a guitar I am looking for a good guitar, I don’t care what’s on the “made in” label. I have a 1980s Japanese Tokai Strat that I wouldn’t trade for any Fender on the planet.

Those seem to be pretty rare too.

Mine is a model called the AST-56 that is a more perfect copy of an actual 1956 Strat than Fender has ever done. I’ve done some modifications to it, had a Seymour Duncan TwangBanger that is like a Tele bridge pickup put in the bridge, had new neck and middle pickups wound to go well with that and had Mojotone blender pot wiring put in so I have all possible pickup combinations (love neck and bridge together). It’s a keeper.

Richie Furay who was in Buffalo Springfield and Poco sometimes uses a Dusenberg too.

Traded for a MIJ 87 E series Squier Strat a couple weeks ago. Bone stock and in great condition. Sounds and plays like a champ. Lake Placid blue. I'm not really a strat guy, so I'm deciding what to do with it.

Question for you guys: With that type of tailstop, can you get a little bit of tremolo effect pressing behind the bridge?

I would imagine, I've never tried it. Maybe I'll try that tonight.

If you can, that might be a perfect style guitar for me. I don't remember ever playing anything with that type of tailstop.
If you try that, please let me know how it works. I like trying to do a very faint vibrato and it's hard to find a guitar that does that well.

It works pretty well. You're not gonna get as extreme as a whammy bar obviously, but easy to move it with your hand and lots of room back there.

Thanks for that. Extreme is exact opposite of what I'm after. It held tune fine too?

Yes

You might look out for these. They used to go on sale every now and then. I don't know if they still do or not.

I've never owned anything built in Croatia that I know of, But I have some good stuff from all of those other countries. Especially The Czech Republic. The CZ rifles are impeccable.
