Mark me up as another vote for Devin Townsend.

If we're going all time he's up there.
Gotta put Ozzy up there too. Dio was great. Taylor is far better than his slipknot work shows.

You serious Clark? This is Geoff from a year ago. He’s dressed like a golfer and sipping a coffee and still crushes Eyes of a Stranger with ease. LINK
Saw Bruce with Maiden last July and he was in top form. He spent the better part of three hours in the July Georgia heat running all over the stage and nailing one classic Maiden hit after the other. Also note that Maiden does not tune down for live gigs like many other bands do. They perform the songs exactly how they recorded them. That’s straight from Bruce’s mouth.

I thought about adding the Jinjer chick in with my Devin Townsend answer but I think Brittney Slayes from Unleash the Archers edges her out by a smidge.
Unleash the Archers- Queen of the Reich

I’ll second Phil and Corey Taylor. Coreys voice has never sounded better on their new album. He’s been sober and quit smoking and you can tell

So much of this depends on how you define metal vocalist.
Dio, Dickinson, Anselmo (for a very short period of time), M Shadows, Matt Barlow, Halford, Ripper Owens, Spencer Sotelo, Russell Allen... these guys are all amazing it just depends on style
When you lump the screamers in things get even more complicated but I'm going from a singing perspective.
Gun to my head: Dio or Dickinson

Great pick. The dude has hit tough notes and cool melodies his whole career

When I heard Mark Morton ft Chester - Cross Off when it was released after his death, I got bummed as shite that we didn’t get to see Chester ever get after it like this. And we were seemingly headed that way.

I just shared that with a buddy today.
Like another poster said, depends on what type of metal.
For example: MJK of Tool is great, but would no way sound as good as Jasta does with Hatebreed..
Then you have Iron Maiden, Pantera, etc.

Bruce Dickinson
The people saying Maynard James Keenan probably also argue Tool is progressive rock. Such an insufferable fanbase.
