Boss katana 50 or vox vtx150 for practice amp?

Looking to transition into electric guitar from acoustic guitar.
Hoping to get some advice on which option would be best, given the amps are both used and roughly the same price.
I will probably play mostly strat style guitars and tones because that's the music I like most, but will probably also get an SG/Les paul for some classic rock.
I think I'll be playing through the amp to headphones 90%+ of the time. With a young family, my free time is either early or late (while they're sleeping).
So, cranking it to max isn't ideal.
But I occasionally want to have them hear me play to hopefully inspire them to join me on the wonderful guitar journey.
I've heard some amps don't add effects to headphones, but I believe both of these do.
Hard for me to know which option would be the better amp or value.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have any experience with either but everything I've read says the Katana is amazing. In fact that's what I was planning to get at one point too.

Prob Katana through I've never tried either. I love my Positive Grid Spark 40 practice amp. Check it out on YouTube. This thing is awesome and is very affordable.

I was leaning to katana.
Still in production, doubt I'll ever need more than 50 watts.
The vox is probably 10 years old and has been replaced by new models. Probably because of the powerful magnets used to get a small box to 150 watts, which would be way more than I'd ever want. And there are better 150+ watts setups if I ever got to that point.
Anything to look out for in buying used amps?
Better to pay the extra cash for new?

Of the two you listed, I'd go Katana. But add the Fender Mustang LT25 to your research list.
I've had the Fender for about a year. Liked it but didn't love it. So I was considering selling it to get a Katana. But before I did that, I committed an afternoon to actually dig deeper than the generic factory presets and make my own tones. It was shockingly easier than I anticipated to dial in MUCH better sounds than the preset fare.
I found the ultra high gain amp sim (whatever they call it) and it was immediate LOVE. Within 10 minutes, I canned the Katana acquisition idea. I dialed in a couple of "me" sounds and I'm truly loving the Fender now. Game over.
I've played a Spark on two occasions and wasn't impressed but that was only the factory presets in that case too.

There seems to be 5 or 6 good options in the sub-$300 price point. Hard to know which one to go with.
I figured used would be a better value.
But just in this thread we've got the spark and mustang 25.

Cool thing about the spark is that they have a 10inch frfr cab coming out in December, if you ever decide you want to play with a band.

I have the Katana Mini and I love it.

Mini is around $100.
Versus $200-250 for the 50.
Hoping to get a best all-arounder.
Is the extra size of the 50 worth it to just have the one and avoid the amp gear accumulation bug?
