Cody Johnson new album "Leather" released today

Been listening in the truck today. He's probably my favorite country artist at the moment. I read this is the first album he's recorded that he didn't write any of the songs which is a bit disappointing. He's an excellent song writer and for this one he farmed out to Nashville's best. Hope he's not selling out to Nashville trends for mainstream charts.
The tracks though are pretty solid and still feel stylistically CoJo. So far I've liked "Dirt Cheap", "Watching My Old Flame Go Out", "Make Me A Mop" and "Long Live Country Music" with Brooks and Dunn.

Dirt Cheap, The Painter, and Watching my old flame go out are my top three.
Wow, I didn’t know that about him not writing these. I’ve been a COJO fan from his early beginnings, but so far this album seems like it’s his weakest.

Dirt cheap is the only song that really grabbed me on this album. I like Cojo a pretty good bit but this album is definitely not his strongest. tbh I really didn’t have high hopes bc I wasn’t crazy about the lead single the painter.

A simple play on words written by 15 libs in a flat. Clever but doesn’t hit home to the singer who is reading the lyrics like you. Karaoke was never my style for famous artists.

Most country songs are a play on words, but who are the writers? They're not listed in the credits for the youtube video.
That's something I wish every artist would do.
