Another one from Lennon-
At a press conference he was asked by a reporter what he thought about people saying their haircuts are un-American. John replied “That’s very observant of them because we aren’t Americans.”

My favorite John Prine quotes:
"As far as guitar picking, if I make the same mistakes at the same time every day, people will start calling it style"
"I think if you write from your own gut, you'll come up with something interesting, whereas if you sit around guessing what people want, you end up with the kind of same schlock that everybody else has got."
"You know that first love that leaves you? You never forget that, especially if you're a songwriter. I must have gotten nine songs out of that girl."
"One time, I went to school, and they asked us all to find out where our roots were. It's goin' around the class, and the kids were going, 'I'm Swedish-German' or 'I'm English-Irish.' They got to me and I said, 'Pure Kentuckian'."

UK producer Cameron Mackintosh put together a stage revue called Tomfoolery, built around the songs of satirist Tom Lehrer.
When asked about the show later, Lehrer said: "You wouldn't believe how successful Tomfoolery was! In fact that show - along with Cats - made Cameron Mackintosh a very rich man."

You know, once you've had that guitar up so loud on the stage, where you can lean back and volume will stop you from falling backward, that's a hard drug to kick.
