Leaving soon for GnR @ NRG.
It's been just over 25 years since I've seen them live. Last time was just a few weeks before the UYI albums were released.
It was amazing hearing those songs live before hearing them on the CDs.
You could feel history being made as they played November Rain. Great show.
Enjoy the show, berg!

Please give us a full concert review from the Houston show. I am really interested to see how Skrillex goes over with this crowd. The way GNR is playing this tour it is sure to be great.

Ageed! Please do!
I'm still buzzin over their performance. I wanted to check out the Houston show but couldn't make it.

GnR about to start any minute.
Place was still pretty empty when Skrillex was on. Hard to judge how he went over.
He just butchered a bunch of classic rock by trying to EDM it up.
Boring...about as interesting as listening to a Jock Jams CD.
Bring on the GUNS!

MY FACE IS MELTING!
Axl sounds like it's 1989.

So happy that guys like you are enjoying the hell out of these shows... I would love to see them a second time this go round

They played for 2:40.
I'm in the parking lot. Full review later.
For now I will just say my expectations were greatly exceeded, and I had high expectations. Bravo, GnR.

Axels piano broke in the middle of November Rain

If you are a casual GnR fan looking to hear the big singles, this show was for you. If you are a superfan, hoping to hear some of the deeper cuts, this show was also for you. The set list was strong. I have heard that they are alternating between Don't Cry and Patience, you get one or the other, and tonight was a Don't Cry night.
Ok by me.
Before going to tonight's show, I watched parts of some of the YouTube videos from shows from the past few weeks. Comparing to those, it seems that Axl's voice is actually getting stronger as the tour goes on. He was consistently hitting all of the signature high/long notes right where I remember them being. It was amazing that he has recovered so well from that debacle of a performance on that MTv awards show where he was so out of form. Tonight, he really sounded just as good as he did when I saw them in 1991.
All of the music was impressively on-point. Neither Slash nor Duff has fallen off one iota. So tight, so precise. It was crazy good.
The equipment may not be holding up as the tour progresses; a couple steps on their light-up staircases burnt out, and yes, Axl's piano went completely awry during November Rain. It seemed to have a mind of it's own, sporadically playing sour notes that Axl wasn't even hitting. It was so bad that he stopped about a quarter of the way through the song and asked, "What the *** is that?" with a frustrated but sheepish grin. He implored that it was nothing he was doing wrong, and wanted to know if any of his crew members had any suggestions. A few seconds later, he just picked up where he left off and they plowed through the rest of the song, with him occasionally laughing at some of the weird notes. I remember when he was the type of guy that would threaten to walk off the stage and end a show early if someone threw a plastic cup on the stage. This new, mature, and tolerant Axl was a very welcome change.
Phenomenal drumming, cute blue-haired girl on the keys, good light show with more than enough pyrotechnics, huge crystal-clear video screens for the seating impared....I just can't say enough - fantastic show lasting 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Except for the opening act, but I don't blame Guns n Roses for that. Houston drew a really short straw as far as openers go, and we were subjected to listening to Skrillex's iPod for about 45 minutes.
No worries, the reason we were all there more than made up for it. Now the search begins for a new piano before the next gig.
Don't miss this show if it is anywhere near you.

So I went in Nola and double dipped as I was in Houston last minute today. It did not relent even with the piano mishap during November rain. These guys are out to prove they still have it on this tour I just hope it isn't the end.

fricking phenomenal show tonight. I went with the same friends that I went with to the '92 GnR/Metallica show at the Astrodome, and went figuring it was mostly for nostalgia. They blew me away. Forgot how fun a real stadium rock concert was. They came out to rock and played most of the songs I was hoping for. There were some long solos, but...it's fricking Slash. The covers and surprise deep cuts were nice. And yes, Duff sang Attitude, for those of us who love that song and his version of it.
Had that old guy moment when I realized that I love a lot of the songs a whole lot more than I did in '92 after listening to them for another 24 years. And I actually know what the hell they're about.
The piano mishap was pretty funny, definitely a different Axl. The whole crew seemed into it, and they all came out for a group bow after the badass finale.
We drank at a nearby bar instead of seeing Skrillex, so I can't comment on him.
If you get a chance to see them somewhere on the remaining tour, do it. Only weird thing was that the crowd looked a lot older than it did in 1992 (and no spotlight titty show :( ). Well worth it.

Yeah it was great.
During November rain I think the pinging noise was that some of the strings in his piano were broken. I also thought that the old Axl would say frick this and walk off but he stayed with it. I knew once the song picked up and slash starting rocking it wouldn't matter.
I feel like I have finally been to a real rock concert. FANTASTIC time.

I've been saying this since I saw them in Atlanta. I can't recall ever going to a concert that I was still thinking and talking about two weeks later.

A guy I know posted a video of November rain on fb and you can hear the pinging. I would share if I knew how. I don't want to link his facebook.

Yeah, one of my friends posted some but I don't want to expose his facebook page to TigerDroppings
The piano mishap wasn't really that big a deal in a huge stadium, it was just Axl's reaction that made it funny.Totally different guy from the 90's, laughing about it and making some funny comments instead of throwing a fit.

Definitely. I mean it was very noticeable as it started to happen because it was the beginning of the song before it picked up with guitars and shite. By then it was just funny to watch him smirk when it would happen. I did catch a pretty good video of Slash's solo that led into sweet child. I had to cut the video short because it was time to stand and rock.
Posted on 8/6/16 at 12:39 pm to bigberg2000
Ditto.
My video clip of Sweet Child o' Mine starts with the last 30 seconds of Slash's solo and ends after the first chorus of SCoM.
That was the clip I wanted, and the phone went away.

The free phone rechargers at NRG stadium were cool.kept us snapping and uploading.

I saw a vending machine at the Superdome selling phone battery things for $5. Sounds like NRG Stadium is losing out on some income.
Question for the Houston people, what was the crowd like? I wonder if New Orleans was the smallest crowd.
