On April 21st, Mac Demarco released "One Wayne G," a collection of discarded song snippets weighing-in at 199 tracks and over 8 hours long. The vast majority of the "songs' don't feature titles or lyrics, and have names like "20210619."
I like what I've heard from Mac in the past, but I feel this release shows how the lack of A&R teams or any semblance of quality control is negatively affecting the music industry.
No one's forcing me to listen to it, but the fact that it's out there makes me feel like the digital music revolution has jumped the shark. How much would you have to like Mac DeMarco to even entertain listening to this in its entirety?

Agree. When it's really easy and cheap to record and release stuff you get this. Terrible.

That sums-up how I feel about this project, perfectly.
Artists are doing every bit as much as streaming services to make music worthless.

I've given it a few cracks since it came out. Never really got too far into it. Its not that great or that bad. I just realized I should probably put it on shuffle. I can see where this has its place, its not supposed to be a masterpiece.
