As they should, or this would be a Wilco vs Radiohead thread.

This is my personal preference only and will probably be laughed at by the more musically inclined

Being a fan of the female vocalist, I'd like to throw out a mention for Lady Gaga.
In just 10 years, she has amassed quite a catalog of hits and great songs (mostly written by herself). Oh and the whole "I can stand on the same stage as Tony Bennett and Julie Andrews" thing too, so it's not like she's a one trick pony.
Discuss.

I mean, they’ve put out two albums in the last 20 years...
Quality over quantity, I get it. But I’m not a big fan of 10k days. Love lateralus though.

The National certainly belongs in the conversation. I despise their latest album but everything before then, all released in the last 20 years, are all incredible.
Since '97, Radiohead has got to be on the list....Kid A and everything since.
QOTSA was a damn good call, as was MMJ.
Spoon probably deserves an honorable mention.

An objective response?
How exactly would that work?

Here is my bar graph that objectively proves Animal Collective and The National are the greatest bands of the past twenty years.

Just do the opposite of what half the posters here do when a Beatles thread comes up. recognize what an artist has done for music as a whole without shadeing it with bias

I'm going to have to say Iron Maiden also (if we get to exclude Virtual XI, which I think came out in '97). Brave New World in 2000 was Bruce's comeback, and everything since then has been gold.

Drive By Truckers. Hate their political stance but great band.
