And the Blind Boys, also does the entire southeast get credit for the gospel hymns or whatever you want to call them from the old south?

Good bands come from all around, friend
What are the state of Alabama's original/unique contributions to music?
We're talking genres and groundbreaking turns in the directions of music's evolution here. Not individual bands
Fwiw Bham and Mobile are great towns with great musical venues

In addition to Motown you have to put Michigan on the list since it's the home to Iggy Pop, Bob Seger, Grand Funk Railroad, Bill Haley, Madonna, Kid Rock, Eminem, Aretha Franklin--who is with Columbia and never with Motown, the Knack, two members of the RHCP (the drummer and Anthony Kedis), the MC5, Ted Nugent, white Stripes, Insane Clown Posse and being the home to electronic music.

Also J Dilla, the greatest hip hop producer of all time.

It's even known as Rock City. I would have left ICP off the list though. They hurt more than help.

Florida is underrated, and somehow California is too.
California should be at the top of a bunch of lists by this point. What I'm seeing are lists by people with very little perspective (or age I guess). I gave up on page 2 so maybe some people came to their senses.

Cant argue with your top 4. After that is personal preference.
