Update on the mud situation for anyone who has made it there?

Last minute rubber boot switch can be made, but it really cramps the outfit.

Not there personally, but from someone who is...

“With everyone walking on the grounds today it may not have a chance to dry by tomorrow. I will be wearing my boots all weekend. Lot’s of people’s shoes are just black from the mud.”

Mud was a fricking disaster. Many areas were barely walkable.

APC was really good. Maynard sounded fantastic, opened with “counting bodies like sheep”, powerful opening.

I don’t love the new album, but they mixed in enough hits to even it out.

JUST when you’re like “I’ve seen all the dumb shite voodoo could possibly pull off”, they’re like “hold my beer”. There is absolutely no lighting almost anywhere and the whole grounds are a fricking mud mess. People are just walking around with their phone lights just to make sure they don’t get stuck in this thick arse mud.

Also, the “EXIT” is about the perfect encapsulation of Voodoo right now. It’s literally on a frickING SLANT. The fricking sign isn’t even straight. Not only is it like 5 people wide with stations you have to swipe your band at when leaving which slow the line, it is literally stationed on a fricking slanted little bank.

APC was awesome and the time just flew by. That was one hell of a fast hour. Good two nights for late-teens-pel between Shinoda and APC.

I don’t frequent this board too much but I just got home from voodoo.

Third eye blind was awesome. Brought me back to the 90s. Made me feel like a 10 year old again.

A perfect circle fricking killed it. I’m a huge fan so ill love anything they do, but their new album isn’t festival material. Didn’t translate well. A few of the new songs landed fine, but they didn’t play “3 Libras”, “Orestes” or “the outsider”? They didn’t play the fricking outsider?? What the frick.

I’m not sure how y’all feel about Mumford, but hot damn they are talented. Fantastic show. I’ve always liked them and think they’re good, but Jesus, they are on another level live. Good shite.

And shame on you city park. That was a fricking shite show of a mess. The mud was equally as bad as jazz fest. fricking disgusting. This city is really embarrassing sometimes. Tonight it showed.

I don't think you understand what "killed it" means then.

The mud was really bad in some areas and as a previous poster noted, poor lighting. I saw a few people really go down ugly

Definitely need boots or shoes you don’t care about

Heard from several that bathrooms were a disaster (again, mud, totally dark and placed in a corner by altar stage so long lines running into each other in an L shaped setup)

I was trying to say the quality of their sound last night was insane. A lot of bands don’t translate well from studio to live, and I was nervous APC would be one of those bands. But they sounded 100 times better live.

Now. Their song selection was iffy. And like I said before. I knew going into this concert that eat the elephant wasn’t great festival material. Oh well. As a fan, I’m still happy.

Yeah. The urinal section by the main stage was a fricking disaster. Extremely muddy at the entrance, packed as shite, and NO EXIT. Literally people running into each other trying to come in and out of the same fricking hole. I mean, I’m no genius, but basic contra flow would be to have a fricking entrance and exit, no? Christ.

The bathrooms closest to the entrance were incredibly awful. Cramped, long lines, and in a mud pit.

You were better off going by the ones closer to the south course stage

I think voodoo has improved overall as a festival(the food, the cashless option, etc), but Jesus you have to provide some light and try to do something to mitigate the mud in the high traffic areas

C3 Presents, the Austin based concert and festival promoter behind the Austin City Limits Festival and Lollapalooza runs Voodoo, not City Park. C3 is an arm of Live Nation.

You’d think that at least around bathrooms and food vendors would get straw or something. And a couple flood lights. They knew what was happening with the weather and had a ton of time to plan sooooomething

I’ve got Janelle Monae, Odesza, Manson, and Travis on tap today

Any lesser known acts I should check out?

It dried out a little overnight. The worst parts are still sloppy.

a little mulch in those bad spots couldn’t have hurt

surely the festival has some resources to get that done

There has been mulch coming in all morning, but like one bulldozer at a time, not a dumptruck going hitting it quickly.

Unfortunately it just turns into a sloppy disaster at night. Drunk people meandering aimlessly through slippery ankle deep mud in the pitch black (exaggerated but pretty dark) is no good.

They know the grounds and know the anticipated challenges. Would just be nice if they planned ahead for a few more “natural flow” pathways to move people with lighting, and adequate water mitagation and create visual cues that pull people towards those corridors... and then of course plan things like restrooms likewise on high ground or with substantial planning to address water.

I’m sure it’s tough out there but it felt like they threw their hands up and said oh well instead of planning and then hustling. It’s long been an issue though. I enjoyed having only 1 line to get in Friday night 2(?) years ago and like an hour wait.
