Albums sold and billboard stats are not the standard or Taylor Swift would be one of the top artists of all time.

I get that but we are comparing two things that are more alike than Taylor swift. Albums of the same genre, made in close time periods and typically have some of the same fans

Its not the determining factor but it IS a measurable mark in this conversation. Or this thread should be "Which is your favorite" and not where does it rank.

Rank refers to measurable. Which we have in this case and it is pretty overwhelming

It's not like we're comparing Elvis to Beyoncé.

The Beatles are the standard against which all others are judged. Greatest band and entertainment act in history, next.

Did any of the Beatles albums stay on the billboard charts for 950week in a row?

Did Pink Floyd have the #1-#5 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time?

Did Pink Floyd have 20 #1 singles?

Did any of Pink Floyd's members have multiple #1 albums in their solo careers?

Want to look at just a few charts?

Billboard

Statista

Ledgernote

Today

Chartmasters

I agree, Pink Floyd's DSOTM is a great album and sold more than any Beatles album, as did MJ's Thriller. Everyone has their own personal tastes and preferences. The Beatles as a group only made records for roughly 8 years. They sold more records than Pink Floyd and the Stones combined. Google "Greatest Band of All Time" and probably 95% of the time The Beatles will be #1. There are many on this board that don't like The Beatles, and that's fine. To each his own. But IMO, The Beatles are the GOAT's.

Downvote Away! LOL

But we are not comparing singles. The post is about albums. Not which band is better either. Its about a single album. Not which band is better.

The post is where does DSotM fit in the beatles line up and I contend that DSotM is better than any single album that the Beatles have. Not the entire collection or singles. I provided data that is pretty relevant. Same time frame, mostly the same fans. Same genre. DSotM blew them all away

One album, not a career. I dont know the numbers but I would bet the Beatles have sold more albums total but that once again is not the question asked

And I upvoted your post.

That is probably true. Id agree to that. But once again, not the conversation.
