His screed against Joe Rogan and Spotify boycott really turned me off. I never thought a hippy from the '60s would turn into a cancel culture, pro-censorship scared old man.

fwiw, he has two kids with cerebral palsy. One mild and one pretty severe. I can't find it anywhere, but I remember seeing him quoted during Covid that his kids are immunocompromised because of that and that was a big reason behind his issues with what he considered bad info from Rogan.

Right, wrong or indifferent, his kids were the driving force behind it.

Still wrong. Caring about kids is great but trying to silence discussion and debate on a subject is not. Especially a topic like this one.

intersting sidenote...his album "trans" and the use of the vocoder was an attempt to illustrate how difficult it was to communicate with his disabled son.

Neil Young also had polio as a kid, which is why he moves the way he did.
And it's not "stifling debate" to say that Joe Rogan is a dipshit and you don't want to do business with a company that pays him. Am I "stifling debate" by the fact that I don't subscribe to Spotify because I don't want my hard earned money to go to a dipshit? Free speech means the government can't toss you in jail for saying stupid things, not that you're immune from criticism when you say stupid things.

Hawks And Doves is fantastic and rarely mentioned in his top albums.
.......Comin' Apart At Every Nail!

In general, I have never heard anyone who has so much range in his songwriting. Straight country to hard driving grunge to techno to folk to sweet love songs to rock n' roll. Protest music to ballads to instrumental.
The guy's a legend.

Fire Joe Rogan for his opinion or I will remove my catalogue from your platform is a form of censorship. I don't listen to Joe Rogan but was it even his opinion or that of a guest that offended Young?

Did Young use his own fame and celebrity to criticize Rogan or did he use his own fame and celebrity to try get him fired? That's the difference. Criticism itself is free speech; going to someone's boss and trying to have them fired for their opinions is censorship.

This is probably the one for me. Tough question.

I just learned something about my favorite track from that album, Last Trip to Tulsa. It was from a live version played in Baton Rouge in 1973.

This is why he sucks. His voice is garbage. Plus he hated you for being a southerner.
