I like them, I have fun at the shows, but I can certainly understand why some people don’t. If I don’t like another bands song I don’t have to wait 13 minutes for it to end.

This is a great point. I hate Tool, but have enough acumen to know it is great music from top shelf musicians, but it isn't my cup of tea. I can see how people can hate phish in the same way I hate tool.

No one with an ounce of musical talent would ever say something like this. I don’t like a lot of classical, jazz, country or hip hop, but just because it isn’t my cup of tea at the moment doesn’t mean it sucks .

The fans do not make it easy. Phish is my favorite band, but I don't completely center my life around them.
Saw them in Huntsville this Summer and they are still an incredible show.
Listened to Colorado 88 yesterday and that album still hits so hard for me.
