Are you okay with Zion being overweight and missing games?

Since my last thread was perceived as a troll thread and deleted, I'll rephrase. It is evident that he can not sustainably play at his size, yet has refused to lose any weight long term. When it's pointed out that he's fat and lazy, people pile on with verbal attacks and downvotes.
So the question I'd like the answer to is are you okay with hitching this franchise's fortunes to a player that is gobbling up money and refusing to do the bare minimum to contribute in any meaningful way? If not, why so angry about him being called fat?

My expectations with him are getting so low that i just want a solid 55 games a year or so.
Other people like AD get crushed for missing games and rightfully so...at some point this shite has to matter.
I just dont know if its a zion issue or Pels issue. Because it seems like most of our guys miss significant time at some point.

I'm not ok with Zion having a hamstring injury and then reinjuring that hamstring...not ok with that.
Now what?
He wasn't fat when he got hurt, so you're just saying a bunch of words that make you look foolish right now, but more power to you.
Now what?

He's never not been fat. He's been slightly less fat, but even if he down to 265 at his best that's still too heavy for his frame.

I think it's a little bit of both. Zion doesn't have the motivation himself, so in theory the organization should step in with a firmer hand.
I think the Pelicans are concerned with keeping him happy and around that they are being far too lenient on this piece which is sinking everyone involved.

“Fat”
It’s an idiotic argument in my opinion. He was in great shape when he got hurt.

Only thing that matters is he is not in shape now after we all thought he took a turn for the better.
Idc if he was hurt, these are professionals and he shouldnt balloon while out a couple months in season. I dont recall seeing any other nba player have that same issue after sustaining an injury.

No one knows if he is in shape or not. His body size played no part in the injury or re-injury. If he comes back and is 80% of what he was for the first 30 games we have a good chance to win a series. If he isn't at least 80% as good then we need to have a long discussion about Aaron Nelson and staff. It took BI at least 15 games to look like himself after returning. Zion not being ready to hit the ground running would be more the rule with the Pelicans and not the exception. That is why these threads are so stupid.

If he plays like he did in November and December, I'm OK with him mainlining crisco.

Nope. I gave up on them when BI was cleared and he still said out another month. Absolute joke.

It's not stupid because his size is the direct reason he is hurt so often. The body can't take the kind of burst and impact the NBA requires over and over and over at his weight. Thats why no one other than Barkley has done it, and even Barkley had to get to 250 to have a career.
It's not like every time he gets on a court at 260+ he's going to get hurt, but with as physical as he plays and all the contact and all the landings, it's only a short matter of time every single time as evidenced by him always being hurt.
Even Ben Wallace, who was one of the most jacked players in the league, played at about 6'7"-6'9" (taller than Zion) and 240-250 (significantly less than Zion at his smallest). Dwight Howard, who is a massive man at 6'10 or 6'11" played at 265 and solid muscle, and he even has had to slim down over the years.
If Zion stays anywhere close to his current size he will never be effective, and him missing 2/3 of his NBA career so far is proof of that.

I understand no one can hit the ground running coming off an injury cardiovascular wise.
However, playing at an unhealthy weight makes him more prone to injury and it’s obvious he’s gained some weight.
Seems like the same song and dance as last year by dangling the carrot. I used to trust the training staff, but it’s evident something has to change.

There are people here that said he did everything he needed in the off-season to get in shape and ready to play lol

This entire thread feels like 7 different Crewz alters arguing with each other
Zion gains weight if he's inactive
He does the opposite if he's playing

He does the opposite if he's playing

Again, this is said literally every time he's about to return from injury then he returns, is magically not looking fat and dominates the NBA.

quote:It's stupid because you ignored that Pic right above because you know darn well he's not fat in that pic
It's not stupid
So instead of seeing something that clearly shows you're wrong and conceding, you want to ignore it and keep making your argument.
